Very enjoyable episode where a dance school instructor cons lonely Uncle Charley into taking 1000 dollars worth of dance lessons. And Robbie goes down there to see if the dance school is on the level and he himself gets talked into a 50 dollar dance contract.

Joanna Moore was quite a looker and very charismatic).

Aside from Lawrence Welk with his champagne music songs and dance, would tv air amateur dance competitions with unknowns back in the day?

LW actually recruited very talented people back in the day. I just can't fathom people at home tuning in to watch a dance competition with Helen (Joanna Moore) and Uncle Charley.

Yes, this is a good episode--two more good ones from that season--"My Son, the Ballerina"-- Jeanette Nolan turns in an enjoyable, and funny, performance as a dance instructor who helps Robbie with his track performance--another, "Charley the Pigeon" -- Robbie falls victim to two female pool hustlers, and Charley turns the tables on them.

I consider this a fairly memorable episode, certainly one of the Charley-centered episodes that first comes to mind. The pool-hustler ep likewise, both gave Demarest a chance to stretch his character past the mundane in-the-household routines. There was another episode in which he's entered into a somewhat shady contract, the one in which he buys a really bad piece of land that was grossly misrepresented.

Joanna Moore makes my list of Mayberry Hotties from TAGS, but for some reason she hasn't turned me on quite as much as some of the others, to be honest. For example Elaine Joyce (as Mavis Neff) was incredibly sexy in my opinion, just a hotness factor that's really tough to match.
