LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - FOX will bring back the Emmy-nominated comedy
"Andy Richter Controls the Universe" in December, further clouding the future of
"The Grubbs."
"Andy Richter" will premiere at 9:30 p.m. ET Sunday, Dec. 1, following "Malcolm in
the Middle." The show debuted in midseason last year and was slated to do so
again this year before being moved up.
The 9:30 Sunday spot was originally slated for "The Grubbs," a comedy about a
family of proud underachievers starring Randy Quaid. The show was poorly received
by critics over the summer, drawing some of the worst reviews of any new fall series.
It was due to premiere Nov. 3 along with "Malcolm," "The Simpsons" and "King of
the Hill," but a FOX spokesman says it will now be pushed back till after the new
year. The network also cut its order from 13 episodes to eight.
There had been speculation that "Andy Richter" would get the 9:30 Sunday spot for
sweeps, but FOX instead decided to air repeats of "Malcolm" there.
