I think around 83 janet jackson-charlene was not talked as much or seen as willis girlfriend on the show-I was thinking maybe because she started her music career. Does anyone knw why she vanished from the Different Strokes set?

I think it was partly to do her music career and I think she also had a reguler role on Fame which took up a lot of time.

Oh i see so she basically wanted some larger roles and a large role was something she didn't have on Different strokes

well, Janet's first album came out in 1982, and she was on Fame when her second came out. But it wasn't until Control broke out almost coinciding along the same time Diff'rent Strokes was ending. She had been off DS for about 2 years by that time (she appeared twice in the 83-84 season). Control was the album that made her a superstar.
