In today’s video essay, we are coming to Rory Gilmore's defense. The Gilmore Girls protagonist has been the recipient of high criticism in online discourse over the years - from the Dean affair, to being a bad friend to Paris, to dropping out of Yale, a lot of people vehemently dislike Rory.

While some criticism is valid, I believe a lot of the hate Rory receives is unjustified, and I will explain why.

What happens when the golden child falls from grace? Is the 'gifted child syndrome' at fault? Is Rory held to higher standards, compared to other Gilmore Girls characters (like Lorelai, Paris and Jess)?

Let's get into it!
