The abandoned Bedugul Taman Rekreasi Hotel & Resort in Bali, Indonesia.

Nicknamed "The Ghost Palace", the hotel was being built during the 1990s in the mountains of Bedugul, but was never fully completed before construction abruptly stopped.



Not much is known about its history, but the story told is that Tommy Suharto, the son of the President at the time, was building the property as an investment project. He was corrupt and was sent to prison in 2002 for ordering the assassination of a judge.

The project was left abandoned after he was arrested.

I was hanging out at a cafe and saw on the news the story of a python swallowing a woman in Indonesia.

The guy sitting next to me was saying in his country, Venezuela, that it's not uncommon. He said that these snakes are strong and can swallow huge animals. They then go into hibernation for months as they digest them.

He said that on land they are easy to get away from, but they are very fast in water. He also talked about the boa constrictor that squeezes their prey and then swallows them whole.
