Got to thinking about this whole Kobe event and the unveiling of statue did this, all I can now say, Kobe was brilliant on the court but decision making off the court, I think about this.....the decision he made that morning and the results of that decision.....such a tragedy.

No sports minds have anything to say here...I have this post running on another forum, one with smart thinkers, and here is what one member just said: ---------

Why a statue of Kobe; because he was a great basketball player and died tragically? Has everyone forgotten of his infidelity to his wife? According to his fellow basketball players he had multiple sexual affairs. I guess its ok to put up a statue of a basketball player and tear down all our statues of American history. --------

I don't recall his affairs but it could be true.

It's reported he also did this:

One of the risks of being wealthy & being able to buy anything. When Kobe was barely 22, he was interviewed when he bought a Ferrari. He said, "It's like being strapped in a rocket." ------------

Him getting a statue has nothing to do with him dying. The smart thinkers on your other site aren’t as smart as you thought they were.

Oh but it does...makes me curious as to whether the statue was in the works before his death?????

Another wise point, our country works to tear down statues to t hose who founded and put their blood, sweat, tears into it's growth, and in this case erecting statues to sports figures....makes me wonder how many other sports statues there are erected..

No actually it doesn’t. It’s about his on court performance. He was arguably the greatest Laker of all time. The other 4 Laker players who were awarded statues were alive when they received the honor. Had Kobe survived he would have still gotten the statue. Nice try though.
