Crimson and Clover 09-20-2002, 10:10 PM we havent had one yet. i only like them cuz we get out of class and get to go home early. Mr. Shy Guy 09-20-2002, 10:13 PM nope...my school most likely never has but i am sure that my school never will *Melissa* 09-20-2002, 10:16 PM You mean PREP rallies? Yeah, we had them in high school. I don't know why we did, though. School spirit was so low that we rooted against our own teams. vienna waits 09-20-2002, 10:22 PM yeah... theres only two a year soo i dont really think much of em... theyre kinda kewl though. InspectorExstead 09-20-2002, 10:35 PM ugh, i hate those! those cheerleaders are always smiling and it's soo annoying! they usually have one whenever we have a home football game. the day of the homecoming game we have one at nutrition on the quad but they're usually in the gym. same thing goes for all the other sports for their first home game. you can even get your fav. players autograph. oooooh. Rockapella722 09-20-2002, 11:03 PM We have a few, but I usually skip them. I hide in bathroom or somethin'... Titania 09-20-2002, 11:28 PM yeah we have them- none yet this yr but theres one in a few weeks. i dont mind them too much because i get to sit w/ my friends in band and its a lot more fun than football games and concerts. but i hate cheerleaders- im sorry if there are any on here- but at my school they are just sooo annoying. i dont want to have the next pep rally tho cause its for homecoming which means i dont get to be w/ band- i have to sit w/ all the freaks in the homecoming court. ugh. (btw, chris- that IS a freaky pic in your sig...at least it doesnt move or id be really scared!!) *Marilyn Monroe* 09-21-2002, 12:16 AM Same thing as what we call "all-school assemblies." Isnt that dumb? God forbid anything be called "pep rally." That would make us not want to go! AllIWantIsYourClutch 09-21-2002, 12:34 AM Originally posted by Slayer Faith School spirit was so low that we rooted against our own teams. We should...our team sucks....47-0..ughh... ANYWAYS....I don't think we have pep rallys. DarleneIllyria 09-21-2002, 12:35 AM Ugh- Pep Rallies creep me out. At least I had the chance to talk to my friends, but pep rallies are just too preppy for my tastes. The cheerleaders were usually annoying. They took up half the pep rally in itself. The band at my school was pretty cool. I could stand listening to the band, but I felt like screaming and covering my ears when the cheerleaders came up. Babes_Cat 09-21-2002, 12:38 AM We had one today. All the varsity teams... Boys and Girls Soccer, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football ect... and we had the cheerleaders so all the dances and flips and everything... then @ the end all the upper classmen screamed ,"GO HOME FRESHMAN!" Ha, it was great. We shoulda been all ,"HELL NO WE WON'T GO!" HAHA! ¤Graced¤ 09-21-2002, 12:39 AM I agree they should ban pep ralleys. When I go into the gym all these decked out popular girls are always in my face yelling. geesh and Cheerleaders. blah but the scary thing is.. I used to be one myself. :scratching head: Mossopp 09-21-2002, 12:23 PM British Schools don't have cheerleaders or pep rallys (thank God!) so I've never been to one. I'm not even entirely sure what a pep rally is! ISmellFine 09-21-2002, 12:49 PM They're okay. As long as I don't have to get out infront of everyone and embarass myself...lol Czas na Zywiec 09-21-2002, 01:37 PM Originally posted by Mossopp British Schools don't have cheerleaders or pep rallys (thank God!) so I've never been to one. I'm not even entirely sure what a pep rally is! I'll try to answer you Mossopp. It's really not that big a deal. All the schol odes is call all the school to go to the gym (Or the football field) and sit on teh blaechers. Then Usually the Principal (Or Student Council President) Presents all the fall sports teams, clubs, etc. And then the cheerleaders just do a little cheer during intermissions and stuff. Then usually our school has a tug o war between the Sophmore Boys vs. Juniors Boys, then the winner goes against the Senior boys. (Same thing wth the girls.) Then the winning class goes against the faculty. (We don't have freshman at our school) And that's about it. Swimfan85 09-21-2002, 01:43 PM we have one for a big traditional football game we have every year and then maybe 1 or 2 more for other big events Fan of old shows 09-21-2002, 03:09 PM we had 1 this year, im in the band so i have to be at every football game there is. our football team sucks so bad we havent won all year and probably wont. but i dont give 2 shyts about the football games im just there to play for band. Whereas, as far as I can see, kids in America are really proud of their school and will support the sports teams and so on. I think it'd be nice if Brit kids could try and have some school pride instead of trying to destroy their schools at every oportunity. But if you'd been to my school (Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh - the biggest sh#thole on the planet. I'm not exaggerating here. I believe in "nameing and shaming") then you'd see why it's impossible for Brit kids, who go to non-fee-paying schools, to be proud of their institutes of learning. I am glad that we don't have cheerleaders here though. I can't stand popular chicks. And I hate popular guys even more (you call 'em "jocks" in the States, right?). School is one big popularity contest and I always lost. It p#ssed me off that teachers would always encourage that kinda stuff. JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo 09-21-2002, 05:07 PM you mean PREP/SNOB rallies... ours are so pathetic.. cheerleaders go around and yell GO WREN.. then the band play.. the only reason any1 likes to go is to get out of class like 5 mins early.. so no, i could cae less if there banned or not InspectorExstead 09-21-2002, 07:05 PM Originally posted by Dr. Lu Delgado We should...our team sucks....47-0..ughh... ANYWAYS....I don't think we have pep rallys. okay, our football team lost the homecoming game last year!! both jv and varsity. that sucked. and now jv plays better than varsity. seriously, no pep rallys...they should come up with better plays. james_baby87 09-21-2002, 07:41 PM We have one once a year and I love them something to get out of class JDS84 09-21-2002, 09:35 PM When I was in high-school we had them also. The only reason I liked them was because of getting out of class. Titania 09-21-2002, 10:41 PM omg! our football team is awful too...we're better this yr then we were...won 2 games out of 5 so far. Last yr was awful tho- we won 1 game. Homecoming we played this catholic school and lost 0-71. we were starting to wonder if the scoreboard went to triple digits on the visitor side. the joke for the rest of the year was that they lost to people who learned to play from nuns...it was so sad. Mossopp 09-22-2002, 08:52 AM Originally posted by Titania omg! our football team is awful too...we're better this yr then we were...won 2 games out of 5 so far. I'm not sure if my school even had a football team (and when I say "football" I mean soccer - I dunno why Americans call it that, but whatever). We had a rugby team but I don't think they were any good. We had a girls rugby team for a brief period of time (I used to go'n watch 'em play but they were all a bit too 'butch' for my likeing so I followed the girls volleyball team instead! :D ). We had a girls hockey team but I didn't follow them either. I hated sports. BTW, what's Homecoming? I know - cos I watch way too much American TV - that you have a dance and there's a King and Queen at Homecoming but I still don't know what Homecoming represents and when you have it.
