View Full Version : Greg moving into Mike's den
TheLittleFaerie 02-07-2024, 05:19 AM If I'm not mistaken, didn't the Brady's have a guest room? It seems it would have been more practical to give Greg the guest room and in the off chance the Bradys had a visitor, Greg could have temporarily slept in his old bedroom with Peter and Bobby. That would make more sense than Mike giving up his den

No . I don't recall the Brady house ever having a guest room.
In that early season episode the attic was a consideration " If Greg were 3 feet tall".:D The ceiling being too low for someone to stay up there. Than in the later season the ceiling suddenly was higher and Greg could move up there !
BestTVever 02-07-2024, 06:49 AM There was never a guest room. Makes you wonder where Aunt Jenny and the grandparents slept

Yeah that's what I was thinking about, Aunt Jenny and the grandparents, I THOUGHT even in the Aunt Jenny episode, a guest room was mentioned, but I may be wrong. Even if there wasn't one mentioned, I think maybe we can safely ASSUME the house had a guest room, just for those reasons.... Maybe it was located in that area behind the stair case, since there was apparently a guest bathroom in that area, maybe there was also a bedroom. I always felt like maybe there was more to the house than what we saw, just judging from the outside, I know it doesn't match up, but still lol there's a lot of room to the right side of the door

When Greg finally did move up there, the attic seemed to be complete with bathroom facilities lol at least a sink

When filming on a set, anything can happen. On the Real Brady Bros podcast they talk about how the house set would change. For example the hallway bathroom door is seen in several episodes and then never seen again. The backyard tree constantly moves to different locations in different episodes and then disappears. The BBQ grill moves to different locations. The carport and garage seem to change too.
Barry gave the theory that because it was a set other crew would use parts of the set during the Brady hiatus. They changed things but never put things back to the way things used to be. Another example is the desk in the girl's room. In most episodes its to the right of the bathroom door. However there are several episodes where the desk is to the left of the bathroom door. Apparently when they put that room back together, the door was not in the same place. But for a spare guest room? We never see one nor do I remember anyone talking about one.

Aunt Jenny was an adventurer, I could see her being content to camp out in the living room or family room even in a sleeping bag .But Grandma & Grandpa?
biffbronson 02-08-2024, 05:27 PM In an unaired episode, the secret 7th Brady child, male age 18, was revealed to be a 2 and 1/2 foot tall dwarf who lived in the attic. Alice would take his food up to him. Then he was shown leaving for college, and right away Mike had a crew begin cutting the roof rafters off to extend the attic ceiling height. :)

The lost brunette Brady daughter, Pheobe, with the crude, annoying personality would often go up and visit him and she had to duck her head to get in lol. The one that Nick at Nite did the running joke about lol It's amazing how many people thought that was real lol
BestTVever 02-09-2024, 09:00 AM Greg moves to the attic in the last episode of season 4. I wonder if Schwartz already had plans for Oliver to move in the next season. Greg moving to the attic gave room for Oliver who became a focus in the show in the last several episodes. This is just speculation because I never heard this before but it makes you wonder it was being planned.

Aunt Jenny was so granola that I can imagine her sleeping in the backyard in a pup tent.

Possibly, BUT I thought it was pretty realistic for someone Greg's age to be wanting his own space. A teen that age DOES need their privacy at times. I can imagine how awkward it would be for 3 teens to be sharing a cramped room. Same for Marcia.

Of course! We get to see the attic transformed from the supposed "crawl space" for the first time with the Aunt Jennie episode? Then again in Fright Night. I cant recall any other attic scenes before Greg moves in. Since the set was built for the attic it made for another great episode when Greg and Marcia fight over it. I was only speculating because if Greg had not moved to the attic in the previous season, where would Oliver sleep?

Can I say, this never happened. The Bros have faulty memories. A few years back I did a rewatch of the show and took enless screengrabs of the set because I love it. The side of the door facing into the bathroom was painted the same colour as the walls in the bathroom, blue. But the door was ALWAYS there. I'll believe it wasn't when someone tells me timing of any episode concerned that I can check with my dvds.
Re: Aunt Jenny, we see Jan helping her unpack in the grils room suggesting she was bunking with them.

Aside from Greg, the kids must not have valued privacy that much lol, I noticed on an episode the other night, a scene while they were sleeping, the bathroom doors connecting the bedrooms were open, and in one it was stated that Peter and Jan shared the same hairbrush lol

No. You can see such different set ups all the time. Check out Love and the Older Man when Marcia comes home from the dentist where the BBQ grill is. Look at the other threads where the girl's bedroom door changes. There is no color change or painted door. There is no door in the bathroom hall and then some episodes its there. Even the actors agree this happened. So its not worth spending time debating it.

In the doghouse.
