Griffin 09-25-2002, 12:20 PM Actually, the Sanford Arms was the boarding house that Fred and Lamont opened up during the last season of the original "Sanford and Son" series, using the abandoned house where Julio used to live. And your right, Aunt Esther was the landlady for the Sanfords. And one of the residents there was Officer Hoppy's mother, played by series regular (And former Miss Jane Hathaway) Nancy Culp. I remember Fred and Lamont discussing the Sabford Arms during the last sason, but was anything said on the first episode of Sanford Arms about why Aunt Esther was the landlady or where Fred and Lamont were. W.J. Griffin 10-02-2002, 01:19 PM I think it was said that Fred had moved to Arizona, and Lamont had gotten married, but I can't be for sure. I only saw the premiere episode, and tuned out after 10 minutes (it was DULL!) TVFactFan 10-02-2002, 05:39 PM Originally posted by W.J. What was it that made the show too dull? Was it too much Aunt Esther without Fred G. Sanford? DarleneIllyria 10-02-2002, 06:19 PM Originally posted by SOLOMON What was it that made the show too dull? Was it too much Aunt Esther without Fred G. Sanford? My guess is it the show just didn't work without Redd. It's kind of like All in the Family. You have a hilarious show if it has Carroll, Jean, Rob, and Sally in it. Notice the episodes that only have Rob and Sally in it isn't as funny as the whole cast episodes. Sanford is the same way. If you don't have Redd Foxx, Demond Wilson working with the rest of the cast- then you don't have a funny show. I have to disagree, Sanford was very funny because Fred had so much to talk about when it came to Cal-Are you being notified by email when someone replies.
