View Full Version : Would you have watched “Three Apartments”….. CJMD03 02-05-2024, 08:42 PM ……..if it had been produced? DORVID 02-05-2024, 11:55 PM Yes. thejasoomian 02-17-2024, 02:47 PM I definitely would have watched it. I was pretty shocked to learn about this attempted show. It wasn't mentioned in Chris Mann's book. If it wasn't for a few articles being unearthed we would have never known about it. So kudos to the posters here at sitcoms online! I wonder if a first draft script exists? BestTVever 02-17-2024, 03:10 PM I would have watched but I am not sure they would have recreated the Threes Company magic. Threes Company came at a pivotal time in the United States - mid 70s which was a very liberal counter culture in Southern California. It made for some cutting edge plots and full of sexual innuendos. But even on Threes company that formula was dying by the early 80s. The reason Threes Company rocketed to the top in its first season was because it was so different. No other show had been like it. I am not sure where Three Apartments would have went or tried to be like Threes Company 2. This may be a cliched thing to say, but I feel like Three's Company (https://reflectionsofashallowpond.blogspot.com/2013/09/remember-chuck-older-brother-on-happy.html) was just one of those shows (https://www.imdb.com/list/ls036815693/) that really felt like it was capturing (https://twitter.com/AjitPai/status/1713645978387873808) "lightening in a bottle" (https://www.closerweekly.com/posts/threes-company-drama-161907/). That was just something that the spin-offs, The Ropers (https://www.libertyradio.co.uk/kljeok/why-did-the-ropers-leave-three%27s-company) and especially, Three's a Crowd just couldn't replicate (https://www.thethings.com/suzanne-somers-made-millions-from-thighmaster/). rusty spike 05-06-2024, 11:36 AM I would have watched it, but would it have been too similar to Condos, which starred McLean Stevenson? That show had potential, but they made him a nut in the first episode. So it really wrecked the audience's ability to get into the show. Maybe the writing would have doomed it from the start. |
