Hello all! I recently read what I believe to be a poorly research paper on women's roles in early TV. In it, the author states that Margaret Anderson was known to faint from time to time, but of all the episodes I've seen, not once has Jane Wyatt had to act a fainting spell. Does anyone know any episode where Margaret did collapse?

Thanks.

I've probably seen most episodes of this series, but I have NO memory of Margaret ever fainting.

Mr. O'Dell,

Your estimation of the paper you read being poorly written is on target--at least, as far as the writer's research goes.

To my knowledge, Margaret Anderson never fainted in any episode of Father Knows Best , and I can state for a fact that she never fainted with any regularity.

It sounds to me like the writer of that article either (1) didn't do any first-hand research (like, say, actually viewing any episodes of the show); or (2) used that as a "fact" to justify deploring the early sitcoms. Or probably, both.

Hi, Mr. O'Dell.

Did you once pitch for the San Francisco Giants?

I've seen all the FKB episodes and Margaret has yet to faint. Unless she did that in "Stage to Yuma" -- which no one has ever seen.

Perhaps the writer is thinking of Kinuyo Tanaka in "Life of Oharu".
