View Full Version : Proposed Bill Lets Record Companies Hack into Your Computer to delete MP3's Truth 09-19-2002, 07:09 PM Has anyone heard about this? Ive read some articles about this.... Awful isnt it... laceyinthesky 09-19-2002, 07:20 PM Wouldn't that kinda be like searching someone's home without a search warrant? Are record companies going to have search warrants to look for mp3s for every person's computer who has the internet or something? I don't see how they could hack into anyone's computer. Truth 09-19-2002, 07:25 PM WEll from what ive read they would delete MP3's and stop MP3's from transferring from one comp to another ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 09-19-2002, 07:44 PM Oh meangya:mad: Brian 09-19-2002, 08:55 PM It's a good idea on paper but I don't think it will work in practice. Millions of people download MP3's every day. It would take a lot of time for record companies to do a search of every computer and delete MP3s. I don't think it will pass because a) they would need a search warrant because it would violate the Constitution if they just hacked into someone's computer without a warrant. It would be just like police entering your house and taking something. A warrant explaining what they are looking for is needed to do a search in any building. Computers should be no exceptions. b) even if they had to have search warrants it would take a lot of time getting them to search through every internet user's computer. -*Forever*- 09-19-2002, 09:02 PM If the do this, I won't be able to hear my song anymore!! *wails and holds out arms to "the sign"* DAVIDDDDDDD!!!! I NEED THE SOOOOONG!!! *cough* Heeeeeeyah, like he's ever gonna read this. I hadda wail all the way to CA. :D I wail loudly!! That sounds logical. *Marilyn Monroe* 09-19-2002, 10:35 PM I think that it would be against the law and the Constitution to invade our privacy without good reason. I mean, God forbid the record people only take home 18 million dollars instead of the usual 500...(OK, so I exaggerate...) Krystal Lake 09-19-2002, 10:41 PM Yeah...I'd like to see them try.
