Soooo... we're getting a Season 4 (https://comicbook.com/horror/news/unsolved-mysteries-reboot-season-4-netflix-premiere-streaming-season/) on Netflix. It should be released sometime this year.

Thoughts? What cases are we hoping will be covered?

I always prefer cases that I've never heard of before AND cases that have a snowball's chance in hell of being solved... They have such a limited availability with each episode covering one case and the seasons being so short.

There's zero reason, in my eyes, to do a historical case. While the Bobby Dunbar case is fascinating and really interesting (Read up on that if you don't know about it) and I think would make an excellent episode.. It's really as solved as it can be.

The Jason Knapp case is local to me.. and.. I'd be OK with that. It'd be a difficult case to solve.. But it's recent enough that there's still a chance.

NO MAGiC ROCK CASES!

Stay away from the supernatural. Those cases were fine sprinkled in during the series.. But.. Real estate is valuable now, so to speak.

Hell yeah. I'm a fan of the reboot.
If they did a classic style segment I would love a long look at the Julia Wallace murder in UM style. That case fascinates me.
The murder of Kanika Powell seems right up UM's alley and could be similar to David Cox, Matt Flores.
Miyazawa family murders in Setagaya, Japan
The suspicious death of Rebecca Zahau

Maybe they'll do a segment on people who've had their drones stolen.

:lol:That's why I call the new UM Dronesolved Mysteries. I am hoping they will at least tone the slow drone shots down this season.

Looking forward to it! I hope they continue the mix of true crime and supernatural.

Wonder if they’ll tinker with the format. Would love to see multiple cases per episode with narration from Steve French. If we were to get a new host I’m partial to Christopher Walken or Dennis Haysbert.

Must be a $$$ issue meaning this new series is relatively cheap to produce and generates decent viewing.

Yeah, can't imagine it costs that much and true crime is a streaming goldmine, add in some alien/supernatural stuff once and awhile and it probably does some decent numbers.

They better change the damn format and get a narrator for Christs sake.

Judging by these photos, are we getting a Jack the Ripper episode?

Looks like they're doing MOTHMAN, JACK THE RIPPER and a couple of interesting murders.

Not gonna happen. Not this time. Deal with it.

The Mothman episode might be about the Chicago Mothman sightings earlier this century.

Count me in the minority, but I'm interested in that episode. I admit, I'm a bit of a sucker for the cryptid stuff.

I'll check it out, but if it's 10 minutes of material stretched to fit 45 minutes with slow motion drone shots and re-enactments, then I'll have it on more like background music.

There are potentially 2 episodes that could be interesting. Looks like one is accident or murder, which I'm looking forward to how they distort or omit facts to make the case look more suspicious than it really is!

Sounds like you're looking in the direction of a mile marker.

Even UM omitting stuff made it obvious that was a suicide.

I'm not up on this urban legend, beyond the title of it. Is there another Mothman besides the one the original series already covered?

I'm looking forward to it, honestly. Sure it's not "the original," but we can't have new episodes of the original. It can't be replicated in a way that will please everyone, unless we can figure out a way to resurrect RS. Would I prefer if they had multiple segments to a single episode, rather than drawing one out over a whole hour? Sure, I would. But this is what we have.

That being said, I wish they would have more than just a few episodes to a season, unless they were releasing them with more frequency. Especially if even a little part of the aim of the new version of the show is to try to solve mysteries/crimes/etc.

There have been Mothman sightings in Chicago in the 2000s. https://www.vice.com/en/article/paqv9z/mothman-sightings-in-chicago%C2%A0

I didn't know about it till somebody on reddit said the segment might be about it.

That is my biggest gripe with this reboot. They have maybe two or three that they have featured that are actually solvable mysteries. No one is going to solve the Japanese ghosts haunting everyone.

I am very surprised that they haven't done this case yet. A very sad situation that could use more attention.

There's a been a few minor updates here and there but it would be great for more people to see the case. Maybe it would lead to an arrest or the location of Asha (or her body)?

Exactly.. While I would prefer none of those cases be profiled with such limited airtime.. I get that those style cases are still "Classic UM" so, i'm fine with there being one of them per season.. But.. It needs to be limited to one.

And, if this new season is 6 episodes as I've heard.. Maybe there should be 0 this time.

Wat's the record on the reboot? Isn't it one case that was solved, and the solving had nothing to do with the reboot?

That's my biggest issue as well. Most of these aren't Unsolved Mysteries, they're Unresolved Delusions. They seem to go out of their way to pick flimsy stories that have zero risk of being "solved" (because there's nothing to solve) in the 12 months between production and air because it would wreck their production model.

Not of much significance or interest unless they revert to the actual Unsolved Mysteries product we all know and love. Frankly calling this tripe "Unsolved Mysteries" should be a violation of truth in advertising, it should have to have a new name so as not to unjustly trade on the good name of the original.

I don't have a problem with paranormal mysteries as that was always part of the original series, solvability is not a hard criteria for inclusion and never was.

This. Honestly there are many intriguing cases that happened between the time the original UM ceased production and today that would make for highly interesting segments if they brought back the original 4ish segments to an episode format.

IMO, this is the best of the reboot thus far. I'm 3 episodes in and all 3 of them were good. Yes, even the Jack the Ripper was decent (I wish they would have spent more time on theories as to who he was). They actually picked good cases this time.

Agreed. They featured this case on the official Unsolved Mysteries podcast. This one is a true mystery and I'd love to see it get more publicity.
