Either because the bands or artists fell apart or shot themselves in the foot before the era was through.

The first act that came to my mind is the country band named Little Texas who are known for the 90s song named "God Blessed Texas". The members went their separate ways sometime after their self-named album in 1997 was released.

How about the group 2Gether? They were a fictional band created by MTV that had their own show and were gonna become a real band. But sadly one of the members died of cancer before it even happened
