View Full Version : What Night And Time Did Soap Air Scoobiedoo30 09-19-2002, 04:07 PM Does Anyone Know What Night And Time The ABC Televison Network Aired Soap. Thanks Aaron The Repoter Impressions 09-19-2002, 04:36 PM 1977 Time-slot Tuesdays at 9:30pm/eastern 1978 Time-slot Thursdays at 9:30pm/eastern 1979 Same at 1978 Time-slot 1980 Time-slot Wednesdays at 9:30pm/eastern Ericguy 09-23-2002, 01:34 PM The history of SOAP's time slots are very jumbled. The show had a ton of controversy not only before it aired but throughout the run of the show. Donald Wildman protested the show on decency standards and picketed ABC all four years the show was on. Apparently Wildman and his religious group hated SOAP and Three's Company both and agreed to leave one alone if ABC would get rid of the other. Since Three's Company was a top five show and SOAP was top 20, the choice was made to let SOAP take the heat. After the first season, ABC made the first attempt to kill SOAP by moving away from its VERY nice time slot after the highly rated Three's Company, but it still did well, dropping from I think 13 to 21. ABC then moved the show again, then in the middle of the fourth season, took it off from December to April entirely, hoping viewers would lose interest. It worked, and when they brought it back in April of 1981 they condensed all the half hour shows to hour long shows, quietly finishing out the remaining shows as quick as possible and ending SOAP for good. PS That is the same Donald Wildman that protested Married...with Children many years later. Apparently the reverend does not have an off switch on his TV Fan of old shows 10-13-2002, 11:28 AM Originally posted by Ericguy PS That is the same Donald Wildman that protested Married...with Children many years later.
