From what I've read, James Gregory was nothing like Luger in real life (thank goodness!). He was also awesome as Ursus in Planet of the Apes. tv star collector 09-09-2008, 02:52 PM I first saw James Gregory when he starred in the short-lived dramatic series The Lawless Years, which was on the air at the same time as Robert Stack's similar show The Untouchables was popular. He also gave a memorable performance as an old friend of Uncle Charley on an episode of My Three Sons. And it goes without saying that he was perfectly cast as Inspector Luger on Barney Miller. A terrific actor. catlover79 09-09-2008, 04:23 PM ^ Wow, I never knew he appeared on My Three Sons. Cool!!!! tv star collector 09-09-2008, 07:39 PM ^ Wow, I never knew he appeared on My Three Sons. Cool!!!! It's a 1969 episode titled "So Long, Charley!" It's the only one that I have (on VHS), and it's a pretty good show. James Gregory plays Uncle Charley's old Navy buddy who tries to persuade him to sail away with him to the South Seas, but Charley is reluctant to leave his family. catlover79 09-10-2008, 12:12 AM It's a 1969 episode titled "So Long, Charley!"
