David Letterman is a gift to Late Night Television and Comedy as a whole. He's certainly one of my favorite late night talk show hosts next to Conan O'Brien and Johnny Carson of course. Craig Ferguson is also an honorable mention, but to me David Letterman was the Prince of Late Night television when Johnny Carson was the king. When he retired from late Night TV he left a massive void to fill because of the truly remarkable comedic talent and humorist he was. He didn't get the Tonight Show and lost it to Jay Leno, but this never stopped Jay from saying nothing short of extraordinary things about Dave. Norm Macdonald considered Dave to be the greatest Late Night host to ever live, and that certainly says something because Norm did not give compliments like that often.
