Jaleel White-Hosted Syndicated Game Show "The Flip Side" Set for Fall Launch on CBS Stations
by Denise Petski, Nellie Andreeva
January 22, 2024

CBS Media Ventures’ syndicated game show "The Flip Side", hosted by Jaleel White (Family Matters), is set to launch this fall on CBS Stations. It is the first official syndicated greenlight for next season.

It has not been decided yet what stations and what time slots it will run on as the CBS Stations have duopolies in most major markets.

"The Flip Side" is described as a fresh take on a traditional game show. The easy to play-along game show pits two teams of players against each other to test them on how they think two different groups of people feel about the same issue.

Teams choose from multiple choice answers, and whoever has the best intutition on human behavior will find themselves richer.

“Game shows have been a bright spot in syndication — and network prime-time — the last few years,” said Wendy McMahon, President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures in making the announcement.

“Their loyal viewers tune in more times per week than any other genre. We are excited to bring a fun concept, combined with the exceptional comedic skills of host Jaleel White, to the marketplace with The Flip Side. It’s a perfect addition to any station’s lineup with the flexibility to play in multiple time periods or a game show block.”

“I have had fun being a celebrity contestant on numerous game shows, but I’ve always really wanted to be the host, giving people money and making their day!” White said.

“When I first heard this concept I immediately wanted to be the ringleader of this entertaining, funny game show where the only requirement is being in tune with human nature.”

Game Show Enterprises Teams with CBS to Produce Syndicated Game Show "The Flip Side"
by Denise Petski
March 28, 2024

CBS Media Ventures has struck a deal with Game Show Enterprises Studios to produce previously announced "Flip Side", a new syndicated game show hosted by Jaleel White that will launch in Fall 2024.

The daily show will premiere first in syndication on stations across the country, including anchor group CBS Stations. Episodes will then get a second run shortly after on Game Show Network.

“Flip Side is a project that we have been developing for over a year for the syndication marketplace,” said Wendy McMahon, President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.

“Bringing Game Show Enterprises Studios on as a creative partner was an intriguing proposition to us – it creates a new business model for a daily syndicated show and will boost the show’s exposure out of the gate with the second run on Game Show Network. We’re excited to work together to make Flip Side a success on both platforms.”

This sounds too much like Divided. We don't need more contentious political game shows like that one.

If this show fails, I wonder if Jaleel will say: “Did I do that?”

Flip Side was just advertised for weeknights at 7PM on Game Show Network starting September 16. They never gave Person, Place, or Thing a nice slot like this, what was shared with broadcast syndication last season buried at 9AM.

Flip Side is better than I thought it would be, not focused on contentious politics like Divided was.

I happened to see The Flip Side on GSN on Frindly TV this morning and what it looks like to me is that they copied Family Feud minus the survey board but I can say that the questions for The Flip Side are much much better than Family Feud's adult oriented surveys. But I will say that the gameplay is so easy and I can say that each team is really smart. Jaleel White on the other hand is a smart pick for The Flip Side and considering this is his very first game show in his career will lead to him becoming a game show star. But who knew Steve Urkel could be a game show host but Jaleel does The Flip Side with such style
