View Full Version : Jerry Mathers: ''Beaver'' was for grownups TMC 01-16-2024, 10:04 PM https://metv.com/stories/jerry-mathers-beaver-was-meant-for-grownups Viewers may agree or not! Duster76 01-17-2024, 12:46 AM https://metv.com/stories/jerry-mathers-beaver-was-meant-for-grownups Viewers may agree or not! If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, I love METV, but those articles! Jerry said: "Few people remember that Beaver was meant to be an adult show. It was on at 9 at night!" METV staff that prepared the story: "While that was surely true for the show's initial airing" 9pm seems a little late for the series, let's see if it's true: 57-58 CBS 7:30-8:00 Friday night moved later in the season to Wednesday at 8. 58-59 ABC 7:30-8:00 Thursday night. 59-60 ABC 8:30-9:00 Saturday night 60-61 same as above 61-62 same as above 62-63 ABC 8:30-9:00 Thursday Night In the 6 seasons it was on it never aired at 9pm. Dude111 01-17-2024, 01:05 AM Stupid,it was for us kids!!! stevea 01-17-2024, 07:36 AM Stars sometimes don't remember their shows too well, and Jerry was no exception. In his book he said we didn't know Miss Landers' first name. But we did; Mr. Brittinhgham, her fiancee, called her by it (Alice) in one episode. vitoscotti 01-17-2024, 11:54 AM I'd venture to say many actors don't ever view the finished episode they worked on. cd637299 01-17-2024, 01:54 PM As much as I love MeTV, their app is chock full of stuff like games and puzzles; and of course article after article. Bermuda had an ABC affiliate then, I believe; if in pattern, it was shown at 9:30 pm, wink, wink. I will say that LITB was supposedly played out thru the eyes of a child—but I seem to pay more attention now to the pithy commentary by June and Ward. None really stand out in my mind now, but any LITB fan catches my drift. cd stevea 01-17-2024, 08:32 PM The MeTV app writers do the research and probably regurgitate whatever they read, not knowing much about the shows MeTV airs. Just a conjecture on my part, but they make enough mistakes to make one think so. cd637299 01-17-2024, 08:35 PM The MeTV app writers do the research and probably regurgitate whatever they read, not knowing much about the shows MeTV airs. Just a conjecture on my part, but they make enough mistakes to make one think so. Not much unlike YouTube clickbait like “Watch [political figure] get DESTROYED by [media rep]! …..or even worse, nonexistent stuff like “Here’s the one scene that got [insert your favorite TV show] canceled!” cd stevea 01-17-2024, 10:28 PM I agree with what Vito said above--that many stars maybe don't even view their episodes. If you listened to Marlo Thomas's commentaries on the That Girl DVD sets, it was obvious with her. cd637299 01-19-2024, 09:28 PM As far as “Beaver” being for grownups, we need look no further than “Box Office Attraction”—-that ep was nothing like any of the others. “Tennis, Anyone?” was in that league too, but not nearly like B.O.A. There were a couple of sixth season eps that also dealt with grownup crooks, like the Mayfield Dairy guys, and the golf cheater. It wasn’t easy for Beaver to tell him to his face he cheated, I’m sure. cd |
