When you get the general picture when it comes to actresses especially comedic actresses one actress that calls to mind is Bette Midler because when she starred in the 1979 movie The Rose she actually played the character Rose to perfection but soon after appearing in movies such as Ruthless People Down And Out In Beverly Hills Beaches Scenes From A Mall and For The Boys it seemed like Bette was destined to be a mega star but I think in my eyes Bette Midler wanted to also focus on her music career too because ever since her songs The Rose and Wind Beneath My Wings became hits I think Bette Midler was showing her fans that she had a second hobby. But when she did the TV movie Gypsy for CBS in 1993 it showed that she could still do comedic movies with ease but I think Gypsy was her weakest movie but the music soundtrack is good. But I mainly think Bette Midler wanted also to branch out into sitcoms which is why she had the short-lived sitcom Bette on CBS. But it is shocking that Bette Midler hasn't been seen in movies lately but is mostly focusing on her music career and I think Bette needs to star in another comedy that will make her big again

I liked what I saw of the Bette sitcom. But it had the misfortune of airing against ABC's red hot Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

I thought Bette Midler was better as a singer than an actress because her albums have such style and grace and she really shows her singing talent well. One of my mom's favorite Bette Midler movies and album is Beaches because it shows her talent well and Beaches is an amazing story about friendship. And the Beaches soundtrack is awesome too. But as I mentioned in my opening post who gave Bette Midler the idea to star in the CBS TV movie Gypsy? I feel that movie was the weakest link of her career and I don't know how it was a smash hit for CBS in 1993? But there's something about Bette Midler that makes people laugh and smile that make her career a hit
