Fun House (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125219/http://www.jumptheshark.com/f/funhouse.htm) was one of the many knock offs of Double Dare created in the wake of that show's massive success. That success, which included a short life on Fox Kids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuiUQOGKn2w), was brief and fleeting... but the show (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Series/FunHouse1988) left a legacy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fun_House_(American_game_show)) that may surprise you!

At the height of the popularity of Nickelodeon's Double Dare there soon began a new style of kids game shows. One such game show that originally began as a syndicated game show was Fun House and when Fun House debuted in 1990 this marked the new style of kids game shows that would become a icon of 1990's pop culture. Fun House also launched the career of JD Roth who was just 20 when Fun House debuted and based on Fun House's success JD Roth was destined to be a young game show superstar. Though many people thought Fun House was a Double Dare ripoff i'm surprised Nickelodeon didn't sue Lorimar Television over copying Double Dare. Fun House grew into a game show that became an iconic show of 90's pop culture. With many challenges and obstacles Fun House was more than a game show it was a test of strategy for kids and launched the career of actor Leonardo DiCaprio when he made his debut as a contestant on the show and even had merchandise such a Nintendo game of the show released in 1990. With Fun House Lorimar knew that this show would develop a strong fanbase. But I think when Fun House ended it's run syndicated game shows for kids would start to become popular with Click and Peer Pressure beginning in 1997 and 2000. Perhaps someday Fun House will get rebooted in a whole new fashion for today's kids. As for JD Roth he then moved on to host Disney's vacation travel guide series Inside Out for Disney Channel in 1996 and is now a producer in TV shows
