Don't forget to go to imdb.com for most of this info. It will save excess posting. LOL.

Also, check the sitcom links on this web site. TJ has a lot of them.

...for about a season and a half (1979-'80), and was NOT successful [only 22 episodes were produced]. I believe Paramount wanted Garry Marshall to produce the show, and tried to entice him to do it by slying suggesting his son Scotti could fill one of the lead roles...fortunately, Marshall was too busy with his other series, and politely declined. Bob Brunner & Arthur Silver wound up running the show, and they couldn't save it from bad ratings, either.

I very vaguely recall this show being on Nickelodeon back in the day. I don't think that it was the right time to make a Bad News Bears sitcom. I probably could work if it were on a broadcast cable outlet that's more liberal in content like say FX or Comedy Central. The main appeal or draw of the Bad News Bears movies was the gimmick of watching and hearing little kids talk like adults (and use salty language). Putting it on a broadcast network during the family hour back then really made things lost in translation so to speak. It's just like how the sitcom based on Animal House couldn't work because you really couldn't do a bunch of edgy and risque stuff on broadcast, prime time TV back in the late '70s.
