I would watch if I received this as a gift but never would never pay for it due to missing footage lol

Just watching the first episode of The Ropers, it clocks in at 24:59, while the DejaView bootleg runs 23:44. The opening credits of the VEI disc play normally as does the boot, but when the program starts the speed is ramped up on the boot to just about 4% faster to compress the episode.

While doing a side-by-side comparison, I had to keep briefly pausing the boot to let the retail disc catch up. The speed goes back to normal during the last minute, where the tag scene and the end credits on both discs play at the same speed. There are no edits to the dvd nor is anything cut from the syndication version, the latter just plays wayyy faster to fit a tighter time slot.

Skimming through disc one, each episode clocks in right at 25:00 apiece which seems appropriate and should indicate that no material is missing.

The VEI version eliminates the FremantleMedia distribution logo.. at least on this episode. Maybe it turns up at the end or maybe they are done with distribution? I really haven't spent much time with the set, yet, or even looked at the box closely to read the hype, credits and such. The slipcase does let you "knock on their door" so-to-speak, as you can pull back part of the artwork to reveal The Ropers' image on the front cover. Maybe also a bit of innuendo there apropos of the series: The door on the slipcover covers Chrissy's "assets", so not only can you knock on their door, but there's a door on her kno--- Anyway, moving on..

The image detail of The Ropers is sharp, almost too good-- good enough to see the makeup caked on both the lead actors' faces. Norman Fell's lived-in, plastered-over look really shows during his closeups!

Can't really say the same for Three's Company, which seems on first glance to have an extra layer of distortion, blur or edge enhancement from the transfer, most evident on the electronically generated opening titles and credits. The episodes look slightly more detailed on the Anchor Bay discs.

Saturation is better than what came from cable 10 years ago or so, but the image on the new dvd is shifted a bit to the right. At first sight it looks zoomed, but the visible image area is focused just a tad to the right.

The episodes do have optional captions for each episode. A plus!

I think will get the DVD set so I can see the Ropers Uncut since its only 80. Never saw the Uncut version

VEI is releasing The Ropers as an individual set.

In this "Three's Company" spinoff, odd-matched former landlords Stanley Roper (Norman Fell) and his wife, Helen (Audra Lindley), are getting used to their independent new life in a posh townhouse development in Cheviot Hills, California. Their neighbors will never quite get used to them, especially the snobbish realtor Jeffrey P. Brookes III (Jeffrey Tambor), who lives next door with his proper family. While Stanley seeks new business opportunities, Brookes wishes he would find them far, far away, believing Stanley is lowering the neighborhood's status. Meanwhile, Brookes' refreshingly down-to-earth wife, Anne (Patricia McCormack), is a supportive friend to Helen, who's thwarted at every turn in her social climbing aspirations by husband Stanley's unrefined ways. Little David Brookes (Evan Cohen) likes both the Ropers just the way they are.

I figured they would release The Ropers and Three's A Crowd separately after they made their money off the new box set. I won't be buying this separate set of The Ropers because I already have the series on the recent box set. But if they release Three's A Crowd separately I'll buy that.

I think it is the same version with no perks just the episodes going by what little I can find. You would think they could have asked Jeffrey Tambor or Patty McCormack to do a commentary on at least one of the episodes. I heard Tambor doesn't exactly claim the show nowadays though.

I would love it if Mary and Alan would do a few commentaries for Three's A Crowd if it gets a separate release. The episode " Father Know Nothing" would be a great eppy for them to do together. It's the one where they think Vicky is pregnant but it's actually EZ's dog that he rescued. It's really funny.
