Anyone know why there were so many paintings of dancers in the Baxter home? I assume they were repro's of Degas but not certain of that. I've never heard this mentioned anywhere but it was such a prominent feature of the show. I wonder if the producers or an actor had a background in dance or some other connection. What do you know?

Nobody knows why the Baxter's house was filled with paintings of dancers (probably degas)?

In the centuries I've been watching Hazel starting back in the '60's when it was first on, I have never noticed any pictures of dancers. I'm currently watching the series again once a week on DVD and this coming week I'll keep an eye out for dancing pictures.

I'm the original poster but lost my password and you know the rest of the story.
So, did anyone go back and view episodes of Hazel to find the paintings of dancers? In the original Baxter home, depending upon episode, you'll find one in the living room of George Baxter's home. You'll also see one in the Baxter's bedroom. Once Hazel moves to the George Baxter's brother's home, you still see them. I believe (but am less certain) you'll also see a painting of a dancer in Mr. Harvey Griffin's home office. They are not all the same painting but they all reflect a Degas style and may be Degas replicas. Anyway, Know why the Hazel show depicts those paintings so prominently. The fact there doesn't appear to be any articles, videos or interview discussing this fact and nobody appears to have noticed it is almost as much a mystery-especially since few homes would have had such pictures hanging in their living room.

Hazel Anyday, did you go back and look? If so, what do you think? Why do you think the PIcs are there? Was someone who was important to the show a dancer? A relative of Degas? Enquiring mind is inquiring.

I watch Hazel every Thursday and as of yet have not noticed any pictures of dancers. I'm sure they appear as you say I just haven't seen any yet. I do think you are reading far too much into this though. Maybe Shirley Booth or Dorothy or some lady on the Hazel staff liked dancers. Could be the set designer like dancers, who knows. Whatever I'm sure the answer isn't evil. God made man to be attracted to young ladies, it's his way to make sure the species propagates. I'm much more attracted to a 20 year old rather than a 60 year old. This is called natural, not evil.

Come on people, can't you keep this people bashing on another forum?
As a friendly reminder, this is a Hazel forum. I have removed any references to names in the recent news. It really isn't relevant to the topic. This isn't the place for that type of discussion.
I would like to keep this thread open in case anyone can solve this mystery. Thanks for your cooperation.

Thanks for keeping this open. The paintings are such a curiosity to me. They sometimes appear in the living room, in Mr B's office and the B's bedroom. I believe they remained in the show when Hazel and "Champ" went to live in Champ's uncle's home for the last few years of the series. They were obviously important to someone involved in the show. They were dissimilar to paintings in other sit com's that tended to use innocuous landscapes. But maybe even more interesting is that nobody else seemed to notice the paintings. I'd figured it would be easy to google dance paintings and Hazel and I'd find loads of reference to it but...none. (oh and yes I am the OP but keep losing my password so I start a new account). Someone must know the relevance of the dance paintings to the show. I'm sure someday someone will pop on here and tell us.
