These are artists who never became the heavy, generational hitters of their era, or legends who transcended multiple eras, but just kind of faded away. At the same time, they were known for more than one song and generally had a few years in the spotlight.

KC and The Sunshine Band. They had several hits in the disco era (most of which I like) but after disco died out they were basically never heard from again. And while I think most of their well known hits are still popular, I don't believe I've heard any solo singer or band that came after them ever say that KC and The Sunshine Band was an influence on them, but I could be wrong about that.
