I’m just disappointed they are crunching credits on the Brady Bunch. At least they don’t crunch most of their other shows.

Everyone thought the fundraisers, insurance companies, old people commercials were the worst of all possible worlds. Turns out they were wrong.

This is great news! Much better than stale MeTV and great to see they got Good Times and Sanford and Son away from Get.Ya its too bad its being shown in flat digi trash!!

Ugh - too bad. I noticed that the opening titles are all over the place. I’m watching the 1230 episode now and it seems like it’s in good shape.

My guess is that MPI and the Nelson family eventually wants a broadcast or cable window in order to help recoup their investment in the restoration. But they may wait until the DVDs have been out for a while before they do that.

A FB post from the Nelson family indicated the Catchy airings were using the newly remastered episodes. I watched several and they were restored, cut down to 24 minutes with 6 minutes of ads and some minor time compression, unlike the DVDs which were uncut.

I can see Pluto running a separate channel for Ozzie and Harriet. They've been running a separate channel for The Addams Family which only had 2 seasons of episodes.

Oddly enough Bridget Loves Bernie is being shown in wide-screen 16x9 instead of the original format of 4x3. It doesn't seem to mess things up yet it's an unintended way to show this program.

I think it’s interesting that a Sony even bothered to created a widescreen version of Bridget Loves Bernie, a one-season show that is not seen all that often in reruns.

Totally charming show, btw. I watched a bunch of them yesterday. The leads have a lot of chemistry and the supporting cast is stellar. And even though there’s conflict between the in-laws, they are nice people and they ultimately like each other. There’s one scene where Bernie is in the hospital and his mother-in-law Amy rushes over to kiss him when she arrives. And there’s an episode where Amy and Walt hire Moe to be their butler and Walt later laments, “How do you fire a member of your own family?” It’s sweet that he considers Bernie’s uncle to be a member of his family.

I wonder if Weigel Broadcasting set up the wide screen image. M*A*S*H is shown the same way. The DVD of Bridget Loves Bernie is set in 4x3 format.

As for the program it was really a great approach to the idea of accepting differences. The problem for it was is that some religious leaders thought the show was demeaning to their religion. Primary the Jewish community took offense to how things were handled. The show would have also failed if Bridget and Bernie were a mixed raced couple. What allowed All in the Family to thrive was that the premise was to demean Archie's bigoted thinking. Also there was not a long term situation of one particular topic on All in the Family which was the case with Bridget Loves Bernie.

Also it's interesting that Bernard Slade was involved in Bridget Loves Bernie. This was a departure for his other offerings which didn't generally have a controversial angle to it. (The Flying Nun, Bewitched, The Girl with Something Extra)

I just hate that the streaming version of Catchy is very limited on the number of Happy Days episodes they have rights too and just play the same few episodes more than once. I wish I had the over the air version that has more episodes.

What’s even stranger is that the streaming version shows part 2 of some multiple part episodes but not part 1.

It appears for some reason they don’t have streaming rights to any Season 1 episodes. They stream a lot of Season 2 episodes though and they appear to be newer prints that have the original Rock Around the Clock song replaced with the more familiar Happy Days song.

You can look up Happy Days for the history of the show. But to answer your question the Love American Style episode was the pilot episode for Happy Days. Often Love American Style acted as a showcase for future shows like Happy Days.

Harold Gould play the dad. Susan Never played Joannie, Ric Carrott played Chuck. Richie, the mom and Potsie were played by the same actors on Happy Days. No Fonzie, or Ralph. It was set in Milwaukee.

Interestingly enough Harold Gould was kind of a go to actor for dads. He also was the dad on the pilot for That Girl.

And with the passing of Joyce Randolph yesterday, there’s a good chance next weekend’s binge of Laverne and Shirley will get replaced with one of the Honeymooners.

Dean Martin Roast for Thanksgiving is enough play for a year. Talk about dated jokes and gags. The African American celebrities often used their color as the butt of a joke. That wouldn't fly today.

Reguarding Full House I agree it should not be airing on Catchy Comedy or Me TV. I enjoy Full House especially the first few seasons having memories watching this growing up in the 80’s & 90’s. Looks like Happy Days is off the streaming schedule and is back to two episodes of Love American Style. The problem with Happy Days is there were so few episodes they had available to stream so they would wear it out quickly.

BTW, it's so very difficult to stomach the replaced theme song when I'm so used to Billy Joels' "My Life".

The TV version of Blondie stars Pam Britton who later was on My Favorite Martian as Mrs. Brown.

As for Green Acres on Mother’s Day weekend you could say Lisa Douglas was a surrogate mother to Ellenore the cow, Alice and Chloe the hens, Drobny the duck, even Arnold Ziffle. Plus you can add Eb (he called her mom alot), Ralph Monroe, and those kids who she ended up caring for at the start of season 6. Being in that role probably gave her a reason not to go back to NYC.

I agree that your idea of the mothers on MeTV/Catchy Comedy would be better that Green Acres. That's not the only odd offering for Mother’s Day. Antenna TV used to run Hazel on Mother’s Day.

My source doesn't have the streaming schedules, only the over-the-air ones, so I don't have access to the streaming schedules any earlier than anyone else. But I can post the ones that are different as the pop up on the public Catchy Comedy site if you like.

So I guess the rights to Laugh-in are still in place for Catchy Comedy. It would have been nice if this past weekend featured The Danny Thomas Show as a preview of it starting the following day. TV LAND use to do that with new show they would add. They also would give a similar treatment when a show would leave.

I remember when Nickelodeon aired Looney Tunes specifically their intros. (“Looney Tunes on Nickelodeon.” I wonder how Catchy aired the half hour shows as far as the intros go.

5/4-5/5 is The Beverly Hillbillies. It starts with some special programming before the regular episodes begin on 5/4 at 4PM.

At 11AM on 5/4 is the documentary "Paul Henning and the Hillbillies." Then at 1PM the reunion movie "The Return of the Beverly Hillbillies." And finally at 3PM is the original unaired pilot.

Beware though.

I know that when AntennaTV had The Monkees, there was one song that was performed by them long after the series ended. Music clearances what they are now in reruns, it could look ugly.

Who knows…there might not be any music at all….but usually what goes on during the songs matters!

I’m sorry that I don’t remember the name of the song, but I looked it up. It was a substitute for whatever was on originally.

It certainly won’t affect the levity….

I have no idea….however I just learned that using “replacement songs” in place of the original is nothing new. I just looked at Episode 1 on the below site; “Good Clean Fun” came out in 1969, long after the series ended.

I just hope that Catchy uses both seasons’ openings. I remember the days when only the Season 2 opening (beginning in 1967 but with a 1966 copyright date, hmmm) was used for all episodes. See below.

Yes that seems to be the new norm. Full House Binge showed mid-later seasons only. My Three Sons airred Seasons 3-5.

And/or maybe they will show the Honeymooners sketch “Away We Go” and the rest of the Trip to Europe/Africa story arc.

Glad Bob Newhart/Newhart got shifted because I get home from work about that time it will give me a better chance of seeing it.

When this was Decades they moved/replaced The Odd Couple at 5/5:30 only to bring it back within a month or two.

Still too much Full House. The Ed Sullivan Show seems so out of place for this channel. Now 2 hours of I Love Lucy? With any luck they will add The Lucy - Desi Comedy Hour as part of the cycle.

Glad to see My Three Sons. Would have been nice if it had gotten 4 episodes, but 2 is still better than just 1 like MeTV was doing. At least it can make one complete cycle in under a year. Seems like Weigel can never find a good spot for Happy Days or Laverne and Shirley on any of their networks. They drop it from here and are now only showing one episode a week of each on MeTV on Sundays which I think is pointless. They probably won’t last there either. They will be gone by the new year I’m sure.

Also with John Amos passing, I wonder if they will change the binge this weekend to Good Times?

...Title.....(topic) was supposed to be.......Were credits wrong on my 3 sons on catchy tv ? or did distributor........get credits wrong or programmer ? was watching two straight episodes of my 3 sons on binge weekend and notice the guest stars listed at credits at end of show were not in episodes..and next episode was different ....but that episode had correct credits/guest cast..names....the episode feature a young actor that was on dallas.......tv show yrs later.did actor changed their professional name ? guess writers and actors change names....sometimes.a writer.....on my 3 sons according to wiki episodes ..info....started using a diff name.....writer wrote episode and later changed name.....

The music licensing issues will be complicated for Weigel to acquire The Brady Bunch Hour, and even if they do, the streaming feeds will never clear it.

Yes, the show began life on radio. There was also a small theatrical film, Here Comes The Nelsons.

I like the choices you picked. I think Catchy Comedy has access to The Monkees. MGM owns Mr. Ed and Patty Duke Show. So perhaps that can be purchased for Catchy Comedy. Those two shows are not available on TV channels.

I'd drop an hour of Full House in the mornings and Saturday afternoon. I don't know why it gets so much time on Catchy Comedy. Also don't be surprised if Ozzie and Harriet show up on Catchy Comedy sometime after the Binge for it. It would fit right in next to My Three Sons.

Maybe in the future there will be a combined Binge with Gidget and The Girl with Something Extra.

I actually like the reduced Binge for Sundays only. I like the Saturday schedule with the exception of the over play of Full House. Maybe after the Ozzie and Harriet Binge they replace Full House in the afternoon on the Saturday schedule.

Well, since the April binges haven't been fully revealed yet, I do happen to have the first show to have a binge on April, and that show is Cheers.

Perhaps Catchy Binges will end. Perhaps they are going to go back to have Binges Saturdays & Sundays and maybe at different times. Or lastly they might be looking into Binge a show that they are trying to get rights to. Time will tell.

It makes sense they would do a Cheers binge with George Wendt passing. That being said, it just had a binge at the beginning of April. Seems awfully soon for another one.

But if they didn't do it and honored him with a binge, it would've been disrespectful to not do a binge on a show for an actor who passed away, regardless of if the show had a prior binge earlier or is constantly airing.

Perhaps those shows are not available. Remember, just recently "When Things Were Rotten " was on overnight early Sunday mornings. That show had only 13 episodes. Also, shows with one season like "Bridget Love Bernie" have had binges when the Binge ran was on longer over the weekends.

The original Saturday lineup from earlier this year I did liked. It was a creative list of shows. The afternoon/evening lineup remains unchanged which I'm glad for. Yet the overnight lineup is pretty bad.

As for a reason for the change from a weekend binge to just Sunday could be that it was too long and difficult to have run short episodes shows. Only shows with many seasons worked with the weekend binges.

I really wish these Binges would start Saturdays at 9:00pm and End Sundays at 9:00pm. I always feel like I’m missing the Binge.


All the great early episodes start Sundays at 6AM and by the time I roll out of bed on Sunday it’s time for Football or I’m not watching TV in the afternoons.Than by 5pm they are into the later episodes and got to be in bed by 9pm or 10pm for work because have to be up early Mondays.I hate that I miss the binges.


Finally the Current Saturday line-up is basically the same as the WeekNight line-up that’s why I would like Catchy Comedy to consider moving Saturday Night line up of Night Court/Cheers/Newhart/Get Smart/Dobbie Gillis/Car 54 to Sunday Nights 9pm-6AM. While the Binges air Saturday’s Starting at 9:00pm and Ending Sundays at 9:00pm.

I don’t know why it’s taking TV Insider so long to update for 10/5. Usually we have it by Thursday but here it is Friday and it’s still not there.
