Kristi Martin's murder was featured on the September 6, 1996 episode of the show. She and three friends had gone to River Terrace Park in Houston, Texas, shortly before Christmas in 1995. While there, they were shot at by two gang members. Kristi died, but her friends survived. The gunman was identified as Jose Rios, and the driver was identified as Jorge Mendez. Both disappeared shortly after the shooting.

In 2000, Mendez was arrested in Mexico. He was later convicted of murder and sentenced to thirty-one years in prison. However, Rios remained at large - until earlier this year. In August, he was arrested in Mexico City. On Wednesday, FBI agents brought him back to Texas to face trial in Kristi's murder.

Excellent news. This is one of the most heartbreaking segments to watch, and such a senseless crime. I hope this guy spends the rest of his life behind bars.

I have to wonder what is the holdup in getting this man to trial? He was apprehended in Mexico and returned to Texas in 2023 so what is the holdup?
