I edited the World's Funniest Animals and Masters of Illusion Moving to Mondays title with updated info Moving Back to Fridays. The new title does not show up on the main index page, still the old one. This happened with some other thread of mine a few weeks ago.

I guess the Sydney thread title not changing wasn’t my goof after all

No if you click EDIT and the title is still in the TITLE FIELD,then YES if you change it and click SUBMIT it will be changed... If the field is BLANK ya have to contact TODD and ask him to change it :)

That's not what I was referring to Dude. The edited title which I had already submitted didn't show up on either the overall index page or the index page for the all other TV shows board. But once you click on the thread it shows the correct updated title.

I'm not sure why it occasionally won't update it. I edited the thread title.

Looks like it’s not totally fixed because while within the linked thread it’s changed to 2023 update but on the main board it still says 2022 update [See thread title and then see updated title on first post]

I noticed this just now...

I edited the Thread Titles from "Nominations" to "Winners" for the 2024 Golden Globe Winners, one on the Movies forum where I moderate and the other on General Sitcoms.

The Movies thread title got changed whereas the General Sitcoms did not. I wonder if this had anything to do with me being a Mod of the Movies forum? I can't think of anything else why one change would display on the main board and not the other.

Are you editing it from the edit button or the advanced page?

It always updates them when I edit them.

Advanced. It seems to have been changed now, but I don’t know if it was you or not.

I tried updating another thread title and it still does not show on the main page.

I also went and updated another thread under Movies and that change displays on the forum with no problem.

Some reason the changes don’t work where I’m not the Moderator of the forum.

I edited the thread title to Winners.

I have the cached posts lifespan set to 0 days. They should be updating. I changed it to 7 days as a test.

Cached Posts Lifespan
Number of days to maintain a cached copy of a post. This makes threads faster to display, but means that each post takes approximately twice the storage space.

Cached Posts Lifespan
Posts are normally stored with BB code tags etc. in the same form as the user posted them with so that it may be edited later, and then parsed at display time. By caching them, they are parsed at post time (instead of display time) into the HTML they will be displayed in and stored separately from the pre-parsed posts. This results in a faster display on threads, since the posts do not have to be parsed at display time.

This option determines how long posts are stored. While a post is cached, it will take approximately twice as much storage space since it is essentially being stored twice. If you have a busy site, and threads typically don't last very long, you can probably set this to a lower value such as 10 days. If you have a slower site, and threads typically last longer, 20 to 30 days might be a better choice. If you have the disc space, you can set this to a higher value for better performance.

My Password thread that I edited the title on today is not updating either on the main index or game show board. Correct title does show up when you click on the post. This was never a recurring problem until a few months ago.

It always works when I edit them. I've looked all the options and permissions. It can't be a permissions issue since it allows you to update them. I'm not sure what's causing it. It could be a MySQL issue with one of the newer versions. I don't think it's a caching issue because I've tried it both ways.

Are you clicking on the first save changes button under Edit Post or the second one under Additional Options?

Time Limit on Editing of Thread Title
Specify the time-limit (in minutes) within which the thread title may be edited by the user whom started the thread.

This setting is the number of minutes in which a user may edit the title of a thread that he starts, and have it apply to the thread listing screen (forumdisplay). After this time period, the change will only apply to the title shown in the first post of the thread. (Administrators and moderators with permission may always edit the title of the thread as shown on forumdisplay through the Edit Thread function.)

I changed it from 0 minutes (unlimited) to 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999. I don't remember when I last changed the number of minutes. The default is 5 or 10 minutes. I didn't think setting it to 0 would disable it, but maybe there's no truly unlimited option when it comes to editing thread titles. 0 means unlimited for other options.

Please try editing a recent thread title to see if it updates now.

You should leave it set to 0 buddy, that makes it NO LIMIT...... (Someone can change the title 5 years from now)

It wasn't working with it set at 0 minutes. There must have been some built-in limit. Something must have changed because it didn't always work that way. I don't have a problem with people updating older thread titles.

I found a thread which said changing the number fixes the issue.

Hmmmm Thats wierd,0 should work....... It always worked for me (Now as soon as I post a thread I cant change the title (It wont show up in the index as the changed one))That is precisely why 0 didn't work anymore. Updated thread titles were not showing up correctly on the main index page and their board. It was happening with others like JamesG and opus as well, see the earlier posts in this thread.
