Do you like it? Hate it? Does it annoy you?

Share your thoughts. :)

It's okay I guess. I figured it was just there for the 9/11 anniversary, but I guess it's here to stay.

Is it here to stay? Or was it just for the week (Sunday 9/8 - Sunday 9/15)? I like TV Land's better, with the ribbon. I wouldn't mind either sticking around, for year long rememberance instead of just one week out of the year.

Well here's what I see when I see the logo:

I see the "Blue Circle" w/the words Nick at Nite. I have a problem w/using a symbol of patriotism in this improper manner. The red and white part just messes up the screen. Its sort of self serving I think. Anybody in the military will tell you the American Flag is to be displayed in a proper and dignified manner. The bug is not. If they displayed an American Flag bug w/no network insignia, I could respect that. But alas, I'd just as soon they "cut out the blue N@N circle" or just shut up already.

Jim Bouton, writer of Ball Four, said it best. We don't show blank eyed love for a piece of cloth. Patriotism is a state of the heart and part of that is displaying that state in a respectful and dignified manner. Do your eyes mist when you see N@N's new logo? Does your mind recall Iwo Jima when you see the bug when you're watching Cheers? Does the logo contribute to the betterment of our society, or does it just clutter it? Do the American Flags have the sponsors' names on the stripe when its displayed at a ballgame and such? No? Well get with it!

The answer, again, is simple. A more tasteful tribute could be done using the ad time. Have tasteful pictures of the flag and the people helping others. Lose the self promotion part (Nick at Nite). Send E-Mail and Regular Mail and propose this to them. Entitle it:

Treat The Flag The Way Veterans Would Want It Treated.

Think About It.

What's the diff'rence between N@N's and this?

I don't like the logo, but then again, I don't like it without the flag either. It gets in the way. I try to watch the show, but my eyes are always drawn to that dang logo. I remembr the old days before Nick at Nite had the logo. Then it was black and white. I was mad about it then, but it wasn't as annoying as when they changed it to blue. Oh well, it could be worse, at least they don't take up half the screen with little dogs barking out "Nick at Nite" or something.  :(

Just to add, TV Land originally had their 9/11 logo from September 12, 2001 all the way through to February 2002. Now that it's back, I don't know how long it will stay.

Oh man, I really wished you hadn't seen that. Someone that runs Nick at Nite could be browsing through the boards trying to find ways to irritate us more than we already are. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we do get a sound logo pretty soon.

I love our flag as much as anyone but I think the new N@N logo stinks (as did the old one). If they insist on having an on-air logo then it should be a verry lite translucent logo with NO color at all.

I'm very pleased to announce that I'm looking at Nick at Nite's 11:30 PM EST airing of Cheers and the flag logo is gone! N@N went back to their regular bug. I don't know if we had to do w/it, but anyway thanks Nick at Nite. Its a right good start.

And so the revised N@N Spectrum Analysis gives Nick at Nite a B - - grade in my opinion w/potential for up and down play in the standings. Their timely removal of the flag logo and the coming of Coach (a halfway decent underrated show) and of course the airing of All In The Family, Three's Company, and Family Ties has earned them this upgrade from the earlier grade of D.

If N@N will revise the schedule to cut out the Kids Say (Nickelodian is better suited here) and ease up the Cheers/Cosby airings, as well as add more quality from the TV Land lineup (Leave it to Beaver, Brady Bunch, Andy Griffith, that sort of thing) or such like, I'll tell you the Man of Barnes will be most pleased...and he will consider giving the coveted A + grade.

Amen.

The B - - is of course a hedge between the above average B grade and the average C grade.

Above average content like Three's Company, All In The Family, Family Ties, A LITTLE Cosby Show, and A LITTLE Cheers (allowing for opinions) and an Average to Slightly Below Average Schedule gave me the idea of giving the B - - . I grade on the curve instead of having a cut and dried letter grade.

For example, if TNN would merely make the Black Bar a useful device (like CNN) rather than a decoration, their grade would shoot up from an F - - to a D - . Amen and Amen.

Let me also take the time to thank my local affiliate WRAL-TV5 in Raleigh NC for airing a BUG FREE showing of Little House on the Prairie last Saturday Night. I don't care if it was a goof or not; if it was, do it again! And if not, you are making a positive trend of airing bug free TV come alive. Whatever it was, thank you thank you thank you!

Righteous Man.

And let those that can continue to work with the networks on having the bugs removed from the show content, whether the networks do it themselves, or whether we can do it ourselves with newer TVs as the digital technology gets better, etc.

For years, people have been going on about the bugs, logos, etc. And one thing's for certain: We viewers shouldn't give up on this thing.

First the blade (getting TNN to remove the Deadly Black Bar)

Then the ear (getting TNN to use a transparent bug you can "see through instead of their present opaque bug that sticks out.)

And then the ears of corn (getting all networks to facilitate the removal of all bugs, logos, titles, etc from the show, whether we do it w/electronic tech or the networks do it).

There it is. As Jimmy V said at NC State "Don't give up". I'm a Carolina fan, but I know what he meant (life). And in the grand scheme of things, yea the bugs don't matter. For either us OR the networks.

And if worse comes to worse, get you a big old satellite dish and watch the clean feeds w/out bugs, etc. I believe they're called Wildfeeds.

Amen.
