TV Land Box Sets have been removed, box sets are no more. No idea when they will return, they are not scheduled for March either.
3-5PM Sundays will now be the same as what airs on Saturdays (Happy Days and All in the Family Twice as Nice).

Why???? The new ones were so promising: Monkees, Unseen Screen Gem Episodes. Well, that's a dissapointment!

The Screen Gems deal is expiring at the end of March. This must be a sign that they will NOT be renewing it this time. Burns & Allen is still on the line-up, but after March, I don't expect it to be.

Oh, yeah. That's right.

I can't believe I forgot it was expiring, LOL. That must be it then.

What shows were part of the Screen Gems deal I know Dennis The Menace, Father Knows Best, Donna Reed, Monkees, and Hazel were part of the deal do you know what other shows were part of the deal.

Gidget and Flying Nun are two others, and I have five Gidget eps. on tape, but don't have any of Sally Field's other show. Anyway, I am surprised the Box Sets are over, but with the Screen Gems deal all but finished, I guess TVLand had no choice. Also, I'm kind of relieved the Ed Sullivan show was taken off, because my father never did get into the Beatles that much.

There is a ton, like Archie Bunker's Place, Square Pegs, Soap, Fish, Bridget Loves Bernie, Mary Hartman, Fernwood 2Night, SWAT, The Rookies, and so much more. And the ones you and RichFonz mentioned.

The WB deal is also expiring after March. It's unlikely they'll renew that as well. Shows include Perfect Strangers, Welcome Back Kotter, Superman, Head of the Class, Just the Ten of Us, She's the Sheriff, Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, all those westerns (Maverick, 77 Sunset Strip, etc -- except Bonanza and Gunsmoke, they are not from Warner) and I think The Waltons as well, and more.

Press release on the Krofft DVD release and the TV Land cross-promotion, marathon, and Kitschen:

Rhino Home Video Conjures Up H.R. Pufnstuf-The Complete Series

New DVD Boxed Set Launches Sid & Marty Krofft 35th Anniversary Celebration Highlighted by TV Land Special February 17

All 17 Original Episodes Together on DVD for the First Time Featuring Over Two Hours of Bonus Features

Los Angeles, CA (January 2004) -- Rhino Home Video brings the wondrous world of H.R. Pufnstuf, Jimmy & Freddie to life again with the release of H.R. Pufnstuf-The Complete Series on DVD. The 3-disc collection-on DVD for the first time-celebrates the 35th anniversary of the series and includes all 17 original, uncut episodes of Sid & Marty Krofft's classic series that defined a generation's Saturday mornings together.

The collection will include more than two hours of bonus features, with rare and never-before-seen footage including brand-new commentary with Sid & Marty Krofft, as well as exclusive interviews with Billie Hayes (Witchiepoo), Jack Wild (Jimmy) and TV historian Hal Erickson, making this DVD a must-have collector's edition. As an added bonus, the set includes the original 1950s Krofft pilot Irving and specially selected TV Land promo spots.

The series follows the story of Jimmy, who, while playing on a riverbank with his magic singing flute, Freddie, boards a boat that mysteriously summons him. Unfortunately for Jimmy, the boat was sent by the evil Witchiepoo, who is out to steal Freddie for herself. Jimmy manages to escape to the enchanted Living Island, where the mayor, H.R. Pufnstuf, rescues him. Throughout the series, H.R. Pufnstuf and the other enchanted colorful characters from the island help Jimmy as he tries to thwart Witchiepoo and escape the island with Freddie.

Pufnstuf has a built-in fan base through the home video market and continues to reach out to new generations of enthusiasts. It was the first series created and produced by Sid & Marty Krofft-the kings of Saturday morning television throughout the 1970s and 1980s. H.R. Pufnstuf premiered in 1969 with 17 original episodes that were rerun for more than a decade, making it a staple of the Saturday morning lineup. The success of the series prompted a feature film, Pufnstuf, in 1970.

Sid & Marty Krofft's contributions to the entertainment industry will be honored in numerous ways throughout 2004. Major events include a Krofft retrospective being held in Los Angeles in January, a four-hour programming event on TV Land to air Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, corresponding media tour surrounding the DVD release and TV Land event, and a special documentary honoring the Kroffts' influence on America. Finally, in April 2004, TV Land will begin regularly airing Pufnstuf episodes and other Krofft programming during the "Kitschen" block, which airs every Friday and Saturday from Midnight to 2a.m.

H.R. Pufnstuf-The Complete Series will be available February 10, 2004, for $39.95. The release will be supported with a targeted marketing campaign, highlighted by TV Land's pre-event promotions beginning seven days prior to the February 17th airdate, with the DVD boxed set included in pre-event spots. TV spots and sponsor mentions will air for the DVD during the TV Land event as well. Additionally, the TV Land programming and DVD will be supported by a national print campaign in high-profile publications.

Brothers Sid & Marty Krofft have been producing quality family entertainment for over 30 years. The fifth generation in a line of puppeteers, Sid & Marty became a household name in the '70s with a series of remarkable programs that featured elaborate sets and fanciful characters. H.R. Pufnstuf was the first in a long line of beloved programs created by the Kroffts, including The Bugaloos, Lidsville, Land Of The Lost, Far Out Space Nuts, Lost Saucer, The Krofft Supershow Hour, The Bay City Rollers Show, Wonderbug and Bigfoot & Wildboy. The Kroffts' success with Saturday morning television prompted a demand for them to produce prime-time programming. They produced various prime-time series and specials, including The Brady Bunch Hour, the Donny & Marie show and Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters.

The Krofft shows sound interesting! I think they should try to air, along with the Krofft shows, other cartoons and childrens' shows for Saturday mornings. Many sitcoms were turned into cartoons so that would be right up their alley: "The Brady Kids," "Laverne and Shirley in the Army," "Gilligan's Planet," and I know there were some others too. I'm surprised that with the recent death of Bob Keeshan that they aren't planning some kind of "Captain Kangaroo"-related marathon...

But to answer your question, it appears Family Ties is still on, just at 11:00pm.

Family Ties must have been doing poor. It'll still air at 11 p.m., but by April, like my original guess, it might be gone, when Green Acres comes.

Cheers must have also done poorly, it's now only 11:30 p.m., with a marathon each Monday. All in the Family is on twice each weekday, and four times on weekends. I guess Carol Burnett is doinf pretty well, it has the 8 p.m. slot still and two mini-marathons a week. So I'm sure it's doing well. Bonanza and MacGyver are probably doing very well. And The Munsters are back once again. It's strange not having Gunsmoke at noon. That has been its slot since forever.

"The Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island" back-to-back on weekends is grand! Now all they need to do is bring back "The Rookies" and "Charlie's Angels" to air back-to-back after LB/FI and my weekends would be Spellingized!

I feel your pain, I do. I like Family Ties, but IMO, they did give it a chance. It must have gotten REALLY low ratings compared to the rest to have airings cut so quickly like that. It had some pretty primo spots. I'm just thankful it still airs at 11:00pm. That's better than it not being on at all.

TV is a cutthroat business. The bad part is... FT HAD great prime slots, unlike it's end on N@N. I guess it just doesn't pull ratings.

That's not true. Family Ties aired 9 and 9:30PM on Nick@Nite, then it bombed, so Nick@Nite moved it to 11 and 11:30PM even, which didn't work either. They tried it in other slots as well, before downgrading it to 5AM.

Sorry, I forgot about FT airing in primetime, but that didn't last long because of low ratings as stated. Sorry about that. I just remember it ending up at 5am and you could pretty much tell the ratings weren't good.

Thank You, TV Land!

I applaud the network for making changes to better their line-up. It's great to see The Munsters back (again) as well as to see Cheers or Family Ties loose some of their timeslots. Now if TV Land could only get rid of them for good. Also, I hope that I Love Lucy gets either the 9pm or 11pm evening slot back. Lucy is poorly missed in the evening.

I hope not too. I don't understand this ratings problem. FT did extremely well in the 80s with ratings finishing 2nd only to the Cosby Show... Why aren't people watching now??

I like the mini-marathons idea, I just wish AITF got one of those slots. Overall, a better change.

Great, and if Viacom dosen't pick up the WB package, who will?

Well, glad I taped a bunch of PS and HOTC. At least THAT way, it won't be 2009 before I see PS again, and 2029 in HOTC's case...

Why is TV Land not willing to schill for the WB or Screen Gems package? If they would actually take the effort to place some of them on the schedule, keep them there, and promote them halfway decently, then, is it not just possible they might, gasp, return on the investment?

Heck, if I had a few million dollars lying around, and if no network was interested, I'd get the packages myself. One day....

The once a day marathons are just an example of schedule laziness. It is a lot easier to just air one show for 3 hours once a day than to come up with a thoughtful schedule with differing sitcom interests being served. With all the classic shows that could be shown, these marathons are inexcusable.

This is kind of sudden.

But Ill watch the mini-marathons of Cheers and probably Bewitched and I Love Lucy.

Great to see The Munsters back.

that's surprising that "Cheers" isn't doing good, as I heard that it was doing great on N@N. I just wish that they'd still show 2 episodes in a row, but at least they're keeping it on, and they have that mini-marathon of it.

Well, IMO, Cheers and Family Ties don't belong on TV Land.
They are too new. Let N@N have them back with the rest of their "modern crap" lineup. That station just plain sucks.
why doesn't N@N get some good 80's shows like:
Gimme A Break and Mr. Belvedere

Finally, why in the hell doesn't somebody pick up "Here's Lucy" ??
I haven't seen that damn show in over 20 years now.
I wouldn't mind seeing "The Lucy Show" either.
As far as these networks are concerned Lucille Ball's career ended in 1957 after "I Love Lucy" went out of prime time.
No pun intended, I love Lucy, but am sick of "I Love Lucy".
