View Full Version : Why did the Fonzie character start wearing a Black T-shirt under his Leather Jacket?

I always wanted to know why Fonzie of all a sudden switched to the black T-shirt. I had gotten so used to him wearing the white t-shirt. To me the black t-shirt took something away from the leather jacket. Anyone feel this way?

Yeah!!! ICK!! I hated the black shirt! But you know what they say..."Black makes you appear thinner (and white does the OPPOSITE)" and it is CLEARLY obvious that he gained weight! But what do you expect? He was approaching his mid-thirties. So Ive always assumed that the black just helped him appear slimmer.

Yes i absolutely agree, the black t-shirt clashes with the jacket-Two colors on top of each other does not look good at all. Do you know if he went back to the white T-shirt once he started wering the black one?

I do like the white T-shirt much better. I agree, Henry did put on weight and I think the black T-shirt hid his spare tire.

So after episode 167, was fonzie still wearing the leather jacket? Or did he go back to the white T-shirt?

Well that mean he must have lost weight and got back to his original size in order for him to go back to wearing the white T-shirt

Haha... I'm so dumb. I never even really noticed. And when I did, I was just like, "Hm, a black shirt...."

But now that I think about it, yeah, I like the white shirt better.

He had the white jeans on today in the 5:30pm episode on TV LAND-He was not matching at all. White jeans, brown leather jacket and with a black shirt underneath-It should have been blue jeans, Black leather jacket and white t-shirt

Yeah, I saw that today, too! I was like "Ohhhhhhh!!!"

He didn't look horrible like you guys made it seem, but I would have preferred the other Fonzie uniform.

I too have always wondered why Fonzie also switched to the black T-shirt for a few seasons... Henry Winkler was obviously a lot thinner when the show started so not a bad theory about hiding extra pounds... also, as we all know, he also changed to more flared-cuffed jeans from the straight leg kind and his leather jacket changed as well, from black to dark brown with more of a flare collar...even his hairstyle was bigger and more 70's coiffed than 50's as the show progressed and obviously more sprayed than greased

Welcome to the board.

I have always wondered about the black T-shirt. I thought he wore it maybe to change it up a bit. Maybe he thought the white shirt bit was getting old?

I had no idea and I was a huge fan of the show. We didn't have color TV at that time.
