That's sort of expensive for that time period. You can definitely get them for less than that today, but you can also buy high-quality robes for over $100 today too.

The ladies all sewed back then. They could of made their own for the cost of material. I remember my mom (who wasn't professionally trained) would get paper patterns as a guide to cut out. Then piece them together on her Singer sewing machine. Also our grade school band the moms did all the sewing on the uniforms donating many hours of their time already in much demand at home.

Yes! For example my church in the very early 1970s ordered fabric for Acolyte (Altar Boy) robes, and a group of ladies (including my mom) met regularly to sew the robes.
