doubtful !!!

Wrestling is on the way out, go to any discount store and you wont find as many "goldberg" or "stone cold austin" posters for sell as in the past. I also understand that pro-wrestling has been having a hard time selling tickets at arenas lately too.

just something to get people to talk, otherwords, needed PR, kinda like Anne Heche.
Being Ellen's "partner" , then getting married to a man while at the same time talking about that she "isnt straight" and how great her life with Ellen was.Still cant help but wonder if she did all this to jump start her carrer.

WWE to get its Ratings Back need to get better wrestling (Like ECW) IMO and Needs to get rid of the WCW wrestlers... Before WWE bought out WCW... Most fans hated WCW and all the wrestlers. And Always made fun of WCW wrestlers and WCW(Such as Saying WCW really stands for We Cant Wrestle).... And then Vince McMahon buys WCW and puts all of there wrestlers on WWE programming.... we all didn't like them! Once he started puttin all these WCW wrestlers on TV I said forget WWF(Which is now WWE)....I mean theres got to be something wrong if you have fans at the WWE shows chanting "We Want a Refund"

On the Other Hand at ECW Events they always had chants for ECW and always were very appreciative towards the wrestlers(Such as when they did a combo of good moves or a real cool move the whole arena stands up and claps, or when a wrestler returns after being gone awhile they chant Welcome Back) and ECW had very good wrestling... lots of Tables, even people being thrown through Flaming tables at times...(Which is about as far as they went)

Now that ECW is now bankrupt and no more.... To find that wrestling you gotta watch an Indy Fed which we dont have around here.... or Japan Wrestling...

I have a FMW DVD and well.... Japan Wrestling is very extreme...... This one match is 2 girls fighting with like Exploding Barbed Wire as the Ropes.... They got thrown into them like 3 times.... how the hell Can they take that? Thatd be hella Painful.... Or in the main event of this DVD, this one guy takes a knife and cuts up the other so much..... then they get thrown into boards that explode a few times... oh and can't forget the exploding barbed wire... and then guess what, after 15 minutes of this match when there all in the ring... (Theres a timer counting down at the top of the arena) The whole ring blows up! I love good wrestling matches that have good wrestling (Examples from WWE are like TLC matches) But I aint going to watch people being thrown onto exploding stuff just to see good wrestling.... Someone bring back ECW

Anywayz I didn't expect my post to be this long... I guess I just gave my whole opinion on Pro Wrestling in this Post....

You've gotta remember that there is no such thing as bad publicity, good or bad it's all publicity and the WWE is getting a lot of it with this "wedding." I've been a wrestling fan since I was 9 years old, (I'm 29 now) and trust me, wrestling has been in a lot worse shape then what it's in now.

As far as FMW goes, Hayabusa rocks!

You said it, Pete.

God, I remember the good old days of wrestling back in the eighties when it was more about the 'fighting', not about how big the "puppies" are on the managers.

At least on WWF. There was GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling) for the cat fights.

I feel bad that kids nowadays aren't going to be able to enjoy wrestling like I did as a kid, due to all the sexual enuendo.

Remember the good old days? :)

And who can forget 80's Glam Rock Sting?

As for this improving ratings, it will to a degree, but I think it will piss more people off.

Heh, with the way things are now, the thing that would best improve their ratings would be a "hot lesbian" wedding.

A same sex wedding during a wrestling match...

If that's not romantic, I don't know what is...

It's official, they have run out of ideas.

I used to be a die-hard WWF (WWE, whatever) fan awhile ago. I used to love the Undertaker and Steve Austin in the days of DX, before the Rock (whom I can't stand and I think is overrated, IMO) was big. Thank God I stopped watching it before I had to see it come to this. They have too many wrestlers and not enough talent. They took some of the great characters like the Undertaker and ruined them. Steve Austin walked out on the company. Face it, wrestling's heading for the flusher, if it isn't there already.

I've never liked wrestling. I wouldn't watch it no matter what they did. Plus the fact these two guys who will be married on that wrestling thing. Are actually straight in actual life.

*laughs* I've been watching that on Springer for awhile. I know the fights are fake, but still I can't help to laugh at the idea of a fake wedding on Jerry Springer. Then the 'third' person in the relationship comes out and slams the wedding cake on somebody. LOL

It is so not right that the people responsible for wrestling is starting to steal ideas from Springer. ;)

Yes, it is truly a sign the WWE has nothing more to do when you strat stealing ideas from Jerry.

I can picture this entire spectacle now. Thre will be name calling, pushing and shoving, and a major brawl culminating with someone getting hit over the head with a chair.

It will be like my sister's wedding all over again...

I have been a wrestling fan for about 35 years now (yes, I know, I'm old!). When I first became a fan, Bruno Smmartino was the WWWF (World-Wide Wrestling Federation) Champion (They later shortened it to WWF, and recently, WWE).

I have not watched much for about a year now, because I don't care for Vince McMahon's idea of "entertainment". It's just gotten entirely too sleazy for me.

I think the reason why ECW was so popular is because they stayed focused on the action in the ring, instead of relying upon all of this behind-the-scenes, borderline pornography that Vinnie Mac is peddling these days.

Hopefully, in the not too distant future, one of the smaller, regional promotions will become successful enough to offer fans a national level alternative to McMahon's weekly trash.

Sad thing is that Vince and the WWE have bought up and absorbed just about all of the competition in the past few years.
I'm pretty sure things will calm down soon. There's a big eb and flow in the pro wretsling genre.

I agree! Remember the good old days of Hillbilly Jim, Ricky Steamboat, Andre The Giant and Rowdy Roddy Piper to name a few?
I used to watch it with my son back then and it was really funny! Clean too.:)

See. That's exactly what I mean. If I were a parent there'd be no way I'd let my kid watch wrestling now. It's way too risque.

It used to be more violent...which sounds bad, but it was all overdone, almost to the point of comical. Kids could idolize wrestlers sort of a superheroes who fly through the air and deliver drop-elbows. There were good guys and bad guys. I always like to call it a "soap opera with fighting."

But now McMahon just tries to push the envelope as far as he can for the ratings, mainly of the 18-30 year old male audience. Every week there's some sort of underwear or lingerie match between the chicks. I don't have a problem with having the women fighting..hell, I'd like to! But it's the sexual enuendo they put into it that makes it unacceptable for younger viewers. The women they have can't fight, they just jump around in skimpy outfits flashing their puppies to the audience. No talent.

I really feel bad for kids today on that aspect. :(

The WWE is nothing more that a sleezy soap opera. I wouldn't be caught dead watching it.

I remember watching the same thing in the late 80's with my brothers on Saturday mornings. Good times!

I agree with you. Besides, who said wrestling has to be a kids show? There are plenty of "Non-Wrestling" shows that are far worse than anything the WWE does. Yet, nobody criticizes those shows. The truth is, many fans who watched the good ol' days of Roddy Piper and Hillbilly Jim grew up.

The fans are the ones who changed the format not Vince McMahon. If the fans still wanted to see over the top characters, then that's what we'd be seeing today.

If that was the case then why wasn't the WCW as nasty as the WWF?

It was! WCW had storylines where a man and a woman(Miss Hancock) got married but the woman was pregnant with another man's baby. A man(Sting)was set on fire and fell 20 feet from a jumbo-tron. Scott Steiner was stalking another man's wife.(Kimberly) There was a wrestler whose name was Hugh G. Rection! They had a bikini contest invoving all the woman of WCW. There was a wrestler(Vampiro) who used to pour fake blood over his opponents. They had a tag team that pretended to be gay called The West Hollywood Blondes. I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
