My favorite Unsolved Mysteries stories are definitely the ones with haunted houses or places. The show has investigated quite a few ghosts over the years. My favorite ones are the Resurrection Mary and the Gurdon Light. I'd like to hear what everyone else's favorites are.

I'm not much for the ghost ones, I'm really a skeptic about that stuff. I don't buy into spontaneous combustion, reincarnation, the crying cross, the spiral staircase, UFO's, etc.

The one case I cannot explain, that still sends chills down the spine is the one about the ghost of Teresita Bassa (probably butchering her name). She was the woman who was a nurse in Chicago who was killed by Alan Showery. Her ghost spoke to a woman sleeping one night. It turned out this info. brought Showery to the attention of the cops, who then found the evidence to arrest/convict him. There was no way she could have known this and the cops had no other way to discover it was him. Eerie.

The haunted house case that comes to mind the most is the one about the Haunted House in Nevada, I forget the exact city name.

The Unsolved Mysteries segment featured 2 families, the Kelsey's and the Robbinson's, who both lived in the house and always heard scarey footsteps in the hall way at night, people laughing, the children levitating off their beds and stuff like that.

A few years after moving to a more modern house, the Kelsey's had a pretty weird encounter. The mother was taking pictures of her baby, and when the film was developed, there was a man on the first picture that looked like the first owner of the house, the ghost. Pretty freaky looking.

The Robbinson's only lived in the house for a couple monthes, because they couldn't take all the haunting experiences.

I remember that episode. Remember when the boy was upstairs and he heard those voices (laughter?)? And when he ran out of the house, he looked back and saw a man's face glaring at him through the window? FREAKING SCARY, MAN!!

The one where this couple bought some secondhand bunkbeds for their kids and the first night the kids slept in them all this weird stuff started happening. The clock radio would turn on by itself and stuff like that.

I have most of these on tape, including the Resurrection Mary and the Gurden Light episodes..

My favorites are the Queen Mary, Jim and Kay Tatum, Alan Tallman, and General Wayne Inn ghost episodes that originally aired the Halloween of 1988

I really loved the story about the General Wayne Inn. But then, I'm partial to anything having to do with the Civil War.

Other ghost story favorites: The haunted bunk beds, Queen Mary, Res. Mary.

There was also another Civil War haunting story I like, but this one took place in a museum that was being restored. I remember a ghost asking for water.

I can't figure that story out either. I would say that I am generally a skeptic but that one is difficult to explain in a rational way.

I never saw the Haunted Nevada story that everyone talks about. I'm dying to see it. But my favorite ghost stories are probably Civil War Ghosts, Frightened Family, Queen Mary, and Ressurection Mary.

Ohh, I second that, my favorites too. I also like the old couple, was it the Tatum's? The Nevada one was okay, maybe I need to rewatch it. I used to love the paranormal ones but towards the end of the series they started getting silly; I'm more for the murder/missing people ones now.

Yeah the older couple who lived in Georgia I believe, were the Tatum's. That one was pretty interesting. I've always thought the ghost cases were some of the most interesting ones. I definitley enjoy them more than the UFO ones, but I like the UFO ones as well.

I'm a skeptic, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate ghost stories! I absolutely love them and cannot get enough of them. It's an interesting form of storytelling and folklore, IMO. I love reading between the lines of a ghost story, to see what message it's really conveying.

My favorite ones from UM are Resurrection Mary, the Civil War ghosts, and the Queen Mary. I drove by Resurrection Cemetary in Justice, Illinois once, but I never saw her! :D

See, Black Hope was a favorite too, but I realize that it's not very popular or believed around here. I thought the storytelling and production was fantastic and the overall story, while very much like "Poltergeist" was great.

The Tatum's were very believable to me; I felt bad for them, they seemed genuinly troubled by the situation.

I dont understand what is so unbelievable about it. I mean, its not really any more strange or unbelievable than, say, the Tallman ghost, or The Entity. Everyone seemed like credible witnesses to me. Opinions...?

James T

Yes taking away the credibility issues that a lot of people find I just thought it was fantastic, but yes it also struck me as a lot of hassle for these people to go to- whether it was ghosts, ley lines or whatever something was happening to them.

The one at the St. James Hotel scared the heck out of me. That ghoul behind the bar still gives me chills.

I scarred my brother for life with that scene when we were small.....lol the ghoul with the 'Freddie Kruger' face.......spinning the glass in blue light.......

He covered his eyes 'cause he was scared and he asked if it was OK to look and I said yes......when it wasn't

That is definately one of my favorites along with the Fish Springs house and their ghost 'Samuel' on the TV screen, Voice from the Grave where the woman speaks through her friend to name her killer. And, who cannot like Resurrection Mary? Someday i want to drive past that cemetary if I'm ever in Chicago. Some good ghost stories out of Chicago. Also, John Hardin story and the Quenn Mary Ghosts. The former was creepy how she dreamt of his path outside and the latter is just authentic in the annels of UM IMO.

Matter of fact, I think I'm going to watch disc one of ghosts Boxed Set this Saturday night.......lol ;)

I also like the Queen Mary and the Tallman's segments. I'm sure there are many more that are favorites, but those 2 come to mind.

Also, I drove by Resurrection Cemetery--saw nothing; it's on a well-lit major road now. I also did the special ghost tour on the Queen Mary--not just the generic $10 tour....the $50 tour that's limited to groups of less than 20 led by a psychic. It starts around 8pm. It was amazing!!!! We got to go into the pool area, the changing rooms (vortex) and even into the bow of the ship...and yes I heard some clanging noises down below in the bow. We also got to go to that door # 13 where John was supposedly killed. I didn't see anything but I experienced sensations, sounds, smells, that made me wonder....was it just me or was there really something there? If anyone gets the chance, it's well worth the money. I'll go back and do it again!

I know this is kind of off topic and is not really a ghost story-more of a tele-kenises story, if one can call it that. But, I would also have to nominate the Tina Resch story to be one of my favs as well to go along with the ghost stories. Whatever that was, it was one of the best segments IMO.

The telephone in the pic was creepy.......talk about good timing for the shot.

I think she is in jail now, if I'm not mistaken.......

Love the John Hardin story....while the whole lady having a dream thing was neat, I feel more focus should have been on his murder. It was too brief...
When I was a kid, the Queen Mary one always freaked me out! The wet footprints by the pool and the little black and white old lady jumping in the pool!
The ghosts ones were my favorite when I was younger, but I'm growing more fond of the missing people/murder segments. What's the ghost one with the hotel, someone was talking about? It's not on the DVD sets and I don't know if I've ever seen it. I'd really like too now!

I vividly remember one involving some kids who woke up in the middle of the night to see a ghostly Christmas tree in their room. I'm sure other stuff happened but i dont remember so much...because I was scared witless....
I happened to be young at the time i first saw it and was myself halfway sleeping....so for me to kind of wake up and catch this story really freaked me out....I've never forgotten the ghostly tree....and Christmas is just a little but darker for me now for having seen the episode.

favorite ghost segment is definately the queen mary. Also, while not really a ghost story per-se, i loved the story of the mary celeste..just so weird.

My theory on that one is that the life line broke on the lifeboat due to wind, but just because it is the most believable doesen't necessarily mean that it's what really happened

I agree about the chicago teresita ghost story. That's the ONLY one that currently creeps me out. It's not really scary, but it's the only story that seems close to being 100% credible. If you watch that segment there is no way they would of caught showery without that crazy twist of events. I like the husband saying how he thought his wife was crazy. Even the police detective verifies the story to be true.

The Highway Vision story is also kind of weird. not scary, but definitely hard to explain.

The entity is probably the funniest because of the witnesses.

The civil war ghosts scared the sh!! out of me when I was a kid. I also like the john hardin story

I'm only getting reacquainted with UM again, but from what I'm seeing about the ghost stories -

The one about the Nevada haunting scares the living hell out of me. That picture taken and that mysterious demonic looking man showing up on the negative gives me literal goosebumps. It's like that was a real demon looking right at you and he was PISSED.

The Black Hope Curse one also creeps me out.

The Tatum House also gives me goosebumps because for some reason the Tatums didn't want their house to be seen, but UM was allowed to film inside it. Were the Tatums afraid that if people saw that house they would get nightmares or something?

Anyway the Ghost stuff on UM always scares the HELL out of me! LOL. But they're probably the most interesting to watch.

I usually skip over the ghost segments. One I did enjoy though was the St. James Hotel. I've always remembered the kid who said he was cleaning up around the bar very early in the morning and saw what appeared to be a little boy on a bar stool--his back turned to him--spinning a glass on the counter. When the employee spoke to the boy, he turned around and the kid said he was "hideous". And then quit that very morning.

I don't know why, but that story has always stuck with me and I've always felt like he was telling the truth.

There are 4 ghost episodes in particular that to this day I can't watch at night without someone being there with me.

-The first one is the comedy show episode

-The haunted house in Florida with the ghost of someone supposedly name Isabelle Cramer

-The Heidi Wyrick case

-The cowboy's ranch house

Of course, all these episodes were later said to be hoaxes, but this came from skeptics who had no actual proof to back it up, so I take it with a grain of salt.

I believe the Tatums had become so traumatized by the strange events that they were trying to sell their home at the time the episode originally aired. I'm sure that made them leery about displaying the outside of their house on national TV.

General Wayne Inn was my favorite because of the head.

The Lifetime episode where they had 4 ghost stories was probably my favorite UM episode of all. When I first saw it, I missed half of the Queen mary and it's a shame because the ghost lady in the table and the pool ghosts were great. I loved the ghost segments most of the time and to me they are the thing I think about the most when I think of what makes UM great.

Haha, yes that was creepy. It's funny that you mentioned that segment, because I have to say, I find that one to be the LEAST believable. The lady who has the "Dreams" just happens to know and work with both Teresita and the killer? I was never convinced of that one. Sounds like the woman just didn't want to be prosecuted for withholding information for as long as she did, or something like that. Or maybe was having an affair with him, saw his gf wearing Teresita's jewelry several times...something shady...

the other weird one is the haunted house where the ghost would visit you in the shower. I can't remember exactly but the guy was overweight and had this crazy gray beard going.

I think you said it a while back, but terrisita basha is probably the one that stands out. also the northern California highway ghost. both were weird and involved spooky deaths that had sort of a good ending if you consider justice and lives were saved potentially thanks to (allegedly) spiritual mystery. IDK...I always look for answers, but those dreams were weird. and the hard thing about someone who has vivid dreams is you can't tell what is in your mind and what is really happening. I think a lot of historical spiritual observations were people having dreams and perhaps lack of scientific study thereof. not a ghost seg, but one of the more frightening segments for me was the sleepwalking one. I used to have that problem as a kid and had a lot of funny stories to re-tale, but it was also scary.

Hands down, the John Harden house story in Clermont, FL. I don't know why. Maybe it's the actual unsolved murder behind the ghost story that I find most interesting.

I also like Jim and Kay Tatum. If there was a reality show centered around Kay Tatum, I'd watch it.

Sam Zelikson being visited by the spirit of his son, Barry, is my favorite. According to Sam, Barry's spirit compelled him to buy lotto tickets the day Sam was released from the hospital, and he won.

I liked not so much the supernatural element of the story, but the fact that a man who had survived the holocaust, lost his whole family in WWII, lost his only son to cancer, and got hit by a car while crossing the street came out of all of it and hit the lottery.

I love the way they open the harden segment. My fav part of the harden segment is when they say he was a caring father that used to check on his kids at night. And then they show him as a “caring” ghost that is reaching out for a kids head while he is sleeping. I always found that funny.

I just watched the Teresita Basa case the other day and I'm usually very pro-ghost but this one .... like pfft. Like she just called up the only other Filipino medical professional at the hospital, over everyone else, through the Filipino Psychic Friends Network? Nah. I'd love to know what the real connection is there.

The John Hardin story always comes to mind. Some others like Teresita Basa, Kelsay House, St. James Hotel, Queen Mary and Christine Skubish really stick out to me.
