The Golden Girls is a treasure trove of dark comedy, but sometimes it went overboard. The girls constantly berating Blanche for her personal choices and insulting Rose for her naïveté isn't actually as funny as it seemed back in the 1980s. The sitcom brilliantly tackled serious issues of the elderly, but it was also inherently misogynistic and even racist. The Golden Girls is a product of its time, and a much better than most, and yet it is hard to watch some particularly cringeworthy episodes. The slut-shaming in The Golden Girls (https://screenrant.com/golden-girls-times-girls-slut-shamed-blanche/) was big back then, but there is a much lower tolerance for it nowadays.
