Although I misspelled "Sitcom", this was my very first post here at the messagboards.

Some of the shows on my list have changed, however, Wings is still there.

I thought I'd bring this thread back just for fun (and my complete bordom, here on Thanksgiving).

Yeah. Thanksgiving gets more and more boring every year. The Macy's Parade was totally boring today. I can't believe it's Christmas time.

o/Do they know it's christmastime at all... doo de doo de de doo doo doo doo... /o
Whoops, sorry. It suddenly got stuck in my head.

Hi,

I've recently added "Mister Ed" to my list. And although it wasn't in my top ten list, The Munsters is one of the best shows out there. When I was younger though, all I did was watch N@N and the older sitcoms (50's and 60's). I still love those shows. I'm not a big Bernie Mac fan, although my older sister is.

The thing about "Wings" is, that everybody in my family likes that show. I mean my parents don't LOVE it like I do. But they used to watch it in the original run (well, for the first 2-3 seasons anyways). I can't get my younger sister to watch any older shows. However, got her to like Wings. She's the exact opposite of me. She loves reality shows ... I despise reality shows.

Adam, this is kind of off-topic, but do you know the TRUE story of how "The Munsters" came about?

The series was created by the writing team of Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher, who also created "Leave It to Beaver"....

Years earlier, Joe and Bob had been working as writers on the "Amos N' Andy" radio and TV shows. They used to go to the home of Charles Correll, who was one of the "Amos N' Andy" creators, and who had played Andy Brown in the radio version.

Charles had a young son named Richard (who later played Beaver's friend Gilbert on "Leave It To Beaver"), and Richard's hobby was collecting pictures, models and other memorabilia of the old Universal movie monsters (Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, the Wolfman, etc.).

Years later when it came time for Connelly and Mosher to develop a new sitcom for CBS, they remembered Richard Correll's classic monster collection and wondered what it would be like to stick those creatures into a sitcom world....and "The Munsters" series was born!

OMG, Hughpuppies, I think you named just about every sitcom!!!
I'm not laughing at your selections though. Hey, whatever show a person likes, that's fine by me. I just don't understand other people who just because they don't like a certain show, come on here and say how much it sucks. I wouldn't do that to them.

My list isn't nearly as long--
Wings
Friends(sorry Snoopy, I know she hates this show!)
Frasier
Golden Girls
Roseanne
and those are the only ones I watch on a regular basis

OMG, Banana Splits & Land of the Lost! YOU JUST JOLTED ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD!!!

Not to be picky, but you mentioned Soap twice, but you listed so many shows, so you're exonerated.

Shows I used to watch alot as a kid, but don't watch much anymore--Facts of Life, Gimme A Break, Alice, Jeffersons, Soap, and Rhoda(I thought Valerie Harper was so pretty).

And I agree with TVAdam, I despise alot of those reality shows, although I will admit, I have been watching American Idol auditions the past couple nights. Some of them are so bad, they're hilarious.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show
The Jeffersons

Will & Grace
Still Standing
Two and a Half Men
The King of Queens
Curb Your Enthusiasm

and last but not least.....WINGS

Hughpuppies, LOL, you are like me trying to list my favorite songs! I have a hard time picking and cannot rank them!

Here's my favorite sit-coms in no particular order:

I Love Lucy
Happy Days
I Dream of Jeannie
Bewitched
Wings
Gilligan's Island
Laverne and Shirley
Addams Family
Home Improvement
Brady Bunch
The Bob Newhart Show
Newhart
Monkees
Designing Women
The Dick Van Dyke Show

I hadn't thought of Land of the Lost as a sit-com, but I definitely loved it. I also loved the Muppet Show and the Carol Burnett show (which TVland is now airing, yay!) but I'd call those more variety shows than sit-coms.

Love,

Wing<><

The only current network shows I watch anymore are ER, Scrubs, and The Simpsons. I used to love Everybody Loves Raymond and Ed, but I lost all interest in them the end of last season.

As for older shows, I love Wings, NewsRadio, Taxi, Cheers, Family Ties, Mr. Ed, Futurama, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Early Edition, Becker (I know it's still on the air, but I can't stand that new woman, so I stopped watching.), and some others.

Wings, The Simpsons, NewsRadio, and ER are my favorites.

I know I'm going OT here, but does anyone else remember Early Edition? I'm generally not into sci-fi/fantasy stuff, but I really enjoyed that show. The first two seasons it was on, anyway. PAX airs the reruns now.

I used to watch Early Edition every Mon-Fri. when it used to air on FAM. I thought it was an underated show. As a fan of the show Everybody Loves Raymond, all I can tell you is you haven't missed much this season. Ever since the contract dispute with Brad Garrett, the show hasn't been the same. It could also be because of the wedding too. The best shows on tv right now (imo) are the Simpsons, Frasier, and Arrested Development.

I've never seen an episode, but I know what the show is, by the commercials for it. I would probably enjoy it if I actually sat down and watched an episode. I'm a big fan of "Quantum Leap", so maybe I'd like "Early Edition".

When it was in its first run... oh that must have been around 1997 or so.... It was my FAVORITE show for a few seasons! I don't remember if I watched it all the way to the final episode, but it was my favorite show for 2 or 3 seasons...

ooh, I just looked it up... it premeired September 28, 1996. ok. that makes sense. I was a freshman in high school at the time.
