Black creatives don't get their flowers until it's too late so I decided to do a video on the style influence my favorite TV show of all time, Girlfriends had on all of us in the Early to Mid-2000s. Under the wardrobe supervision of costume designer, Stacy L Beverly, the "Girlfriends" each had their own distinct style that Black women could see themselves in.

If you've never seen the show here's a brief breakdown of the main characters:

Joan Clayton (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXfvryCIbsk) - The Successful Lawyer
Toni Childs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSWRufrMeW8) - The Bad And Boujee (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7Q_sgwgQzw) Real Estate Agent
Maya Wilkes - The Sassy Homegirl
Lynn Searcy - The Boho Free Spirit Wild Child

"Girlfriends" (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/girlfriends-vs-xes-and-the-city.551848/) was our Sex And the City (https://www.google.com/search?q=girlfriends+vs.+sex+and+the+city+site:www.reddit.com&sca_esv=576067890&sxsrf=AM9HkKk7fCVabrU_KvHXmf4qxMnvDw5iUw:1698141508196&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiZ3P6Kto6CAxXxj2oFHbzfDUQQrQIoBHoECBEQBQ&biw=1600&bih=773&dpr=1) and just like (https://www.google.com/search?q=girlfriends+vs.+sex+and+the+city&oq=girlfriends+vs.+sex+and+the+city&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRirAtIBCjEwNTY2ajBqMTWoAgCwAgA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#ip=1) Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte got theirs, there's still hope for a movie featuring Joan, Toni, Maya, and Lynn. Netflix recently brought back Girlfriends as well as a handful of other Black shows from the 90s and early 2000s and there is a whole new generation who get to experience them thanks to Strong Black Lead. Enjoy!
