When I was researching commercials on Youtube I saw a preview for a new movie debuting in December called Wonka and it's supposed to be about Willy Wonka and it debuts Christmas week. I thought Wonka looked weird from the preview I saw and how they can make another movie out of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory is just odd to me when the original version was wonderful. I don't know who stars in Wonka but I have a feeling it will flop in theaters

I think Wonka will flop because from the preview I saw it looks and is shockingly unappealing and I had only seen the original Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory in parts and I don't know how in the world Wonka was even considered to be made. Because when you get the general picture when you make a movie out of a Roald Dahl book it has to be correct and wonderful. Look at the other movies based on Roald Dahl books such as Matilda and James And The Giant Peach and Disney's underrated The BFG "Big Friendly Giant" and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and the only good movie that was a Roald Dahl book that did well was Matilda and it even had a Broadway play for a short time. But what I can expect with Wonka is that they have ruined a classic children's novel but the creepiest things in this movie is the Oompa-Loompas and why they chose to make them creepy I have no idea. But stick with the original classic

It should be noted that Dahl hated the 1971 Willy Wonka film. He felt that it focused too much on Willy Wonka instead of Charlie and that it toned down his vision.

He also did not want Gene Wilder for the role of Wonka and insisted on Spike Milligan or Peter Sellers, which Hollywood rejected.

On the same type of thing - we could have had Rik Mayall in the second Chevy Chase Vacation film - Chevy and the director were fans of The Young Ones - but the suits at Warner Bros. said no to that and insisted on a Brit comic Joe Six Pack might know - hence Eric Idle.

I wonder if he were to be alive today what Gene Wilder would think of Wonka's release? I read Roald Dahl's books in elementary school and read James And The Giant Peach twice and was in a play on James And The Giant Peach but I never read Charlie And The Chocolate Factory but as I mentioned I think why Wonka was made so they could have a movie released over Christmas. Because Christmas released movies seem to be huge box office hits. But I hope they don't do a new version of the classic song Pure Imagination for Wonka

Gene's death from Alzheimer's - dementia is a cruel disease. My mother got it in her late sixties - vascular dementia - smoking - she took it up to cope with guilt and stress - the spontaneous mutations in her gene that killed our sister at ten months old (a brain tumor that must have started in the womb) and left her sons with birth defects/permanent disabilities and genetic diseases like epilepsy and diabetes.

How Wonka was even thought up as a movie idea i'll never know. Because I watched part of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory and thought it was wonderful but the only thing that Wonka will have going for it is that it's gonna be released during Christmas and it might be the movie hit of 2023. But I won't be surprised if this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will show a preview of Wonka. But as we have seen with movies released around December and the weeks leading up to Christmas they usually make big money but Wonka will do poorly in my opinion

I cannot believe how much hype Wonka is getting and they expect it to be a hit when it debuts in theaters tomorrow. Like IHOP has a Wonka themed menu which tells me that Wonka will indeed be a success but in my eyes I have a feeling it will fail during it's first week

It'll do okay - Money was good in the Thursday previews. I am surprised they re-did it.

Why I think Wonka failed was because it was a weak remake of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory and people were expecting it to be like the original movie. And the soundtrack was weak too and I cannot figure out why Wonka existed in the first place. Hopefully they don't develop Wonka 2 next
