Best Buy is checking out of the DVD business.

The consumer-electronics retailer will phase out sales of DVDs and Blu-ray discs both in-store and online in early 2024, according to industry sources familiar with the company’s plans. Best Buy made the initial decision to end DVD sales nine months ago, according to one source.

Best Buy confirmed Friday that it is ending sales of DVDs.

Sad, I've bought many Blu-rays and DVDs from them over the years.

One of my friends got lucky and got hold of the Sleepaway Camp box set from a Best Buy before the American Red Cross stopped it.

When you get the general picture it used to be when it came to DVD and Blu-ray sales you had Target Walmart and Best Buy but now with the news that Best Buy will no longer carry DVDs and Blu-rays where are people going to buy movies now? I think the reason Best Buy is choosing to do this is because Best Buy is trying to focus on becoming an appliance store or becoming a rental store like Aaron's. But taking the DVD and Blu-Ray section out of Best Buy is weird because people went there to find cheap deals on hit movies but I think it is showing because people are now hooked on streaming movies now and Amazon is now becoming king and I mean the big KING with a capital K of everything and you can find DVDs and Blu-Rays anytime for cheap prices. I think this news will be the beginning of the end of Best Buy and Best Buy will lose customers and go bankrupt in a few years

This because of Live Streaming these days(Roku, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Freevee for example)
