I watched the episode where the aluminum siding guy was trying to rip off the Bunkers. Archie told him they have 6 rooms, "including the bathroom" or some funny line like that.
I then saw the episode where Archie is angry with Edith for inviting her cousin and husband to stay with them. He told her they didn't have the room. Mike and Gloria offered to sleep on the pull-out sofa, which implied they only had 2 bedrooms.
If they had 6 rooms, including the bathroom--that would be the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and I assume 3 bedrooms.
Perhaps he's counting the big room as a living room and dining room (2 rooms), but it's really 1 room.
So, does anyone know how many bedrooms in the Bunker house?

I don't know a certain answer, but I can name the rooms they do have
Kitchen
Living Room
Archie and Edith's Bedroom
Gloria and Mike's Room
Bathroom
Didn't they have an attic? I want to say that they do, but I can't remember. Didn't Archie get locked in the attic while Gloria, Mike, and Edith were away?

Thanks Jenny, but do you know for sure they only had 2 bedrooms? Sorry to be a pain in the neck. I'm trying to figure out why Archie said they had 6 rooms. I always assumed they had 3 bedrooms.
I'm not sure about the attic, but I think Archie got stuck in the cellar. Then again, I'm lucky if I remember what I had for breakfast.
I would think there were only two bedrooms inthe Bunker house. But things got crowded ther in the later years. Did Bille share a room with Stephanie when she moved into the house in 1981? And what about Ellen Canby, the housekeeper? Did she live in the house too?
I guess the living room and dining room could be counted as two separate rooms, even though there wasn't a wall between them.
As for what you had for breakfast this morning, my guess would probably be some kind of cereal...

That's right, Archie locked himself in the basement accidently after Irene Lorenzo put a new lock on the door. He was home alone so passed the time with a bottle of Polish Vodka.
The house had only two bedrooms, this is a fact, because
a) Before Mike was offered his fellowship Archie was excited that he could finally have his den, by re-doing their bedroom. If there was an extra room that would have been his den.
b) (and this is the clincher) Archie was mad in an episode featuring the Jefferson's (I can't remember for sure which one) because the Jefferson's house had three bedrooms and his only had two. He wanted to know where all the people slept in the house because Lionel, Henry and Louise&George were all living in the house at the time.
Presumably the six rooms would be the kitchen, the living room, the dining room, the bathroom, Archie&Edith's bedroom, Mike&Gloria's bedroom. That is not including the basement and the attic (which did exist because that is where Uncle Oscar died in season two).

I loved the "Uncle Oscar" episode. Ellen Canby did not live with them. I think she was related to the Swansons who moved in next door, They bought the house from the Jeffersons. I think she was Ed's sister.
