The big fix for baseball isn't evident at least not at this time, there are a few little things that can be done as the sports prepares for another jump the shark moment.

Fix the over the air presentation, this is not football, the sport doesn't need an analyst to discuss every event that takes place. All the clutter of information is a turn off to the casual fan that may be interested in sitting through a few innings without being inundated with graphs, charts, pitch speed, location issues, and that's just the beginning. The games were shorter this year, but the presentation of the game is so overloaded with stats that it seems just as slow.

End the season earlier. It's Alice through the looking glass at this point, the postseason has been expanded to what I consider to be an absurd point, the American League had 8 teams finish above .500, six made the postseason. only one (Seattle) won more than 85 games and didn't make the postseason. In the National League nine teams finished above .500 with 84 wins being enough to get a postseason berth. And it's going to get a lot worse, when baseball expands to 32 teams at the end of 24 or 25 the postseason will be top 8 in each league, and four best of seven rounds. You don't need 162 games when the standards are that low. If a team cracks .500 they'll be in. The season should end Labor Day weekend or the weekend after with the playoffs starting in September. Baseball is no match for football why make matters worse by running the postseason up against both the NFL going full throttle and college football as it gets into its premium match-ups.

The steroid era of baseball took place from the late 1980s through the early 2000s, where home runs increased to record levels. The sudden spike was due to PEDs, or performance enhancing drugs. Steroid testing did not begin until 2003. In 1998, McGwire hit 70 home runs to set the MLB mark, and just 3 years later, Barry Bonds hit 73. Bonds would go on to hit 762 for his career and rack up 7 MVP awards, both MLB records. These achievements would become tainted in the years that followed. In a time where guys were hitting 50, 60, and 70 home runs a season, many players were overlooked, including when they eventually made it to the Hall of Fame ballot. This video will highlight some of the most under appreciated hitters that played during the steroid era.

What nonsense, pitch framing has been part of the game all of my life, there's nothing new about it.

The big picture at least on the surface, baseball is doing just fine. Attendance is good with the exception of a few teams, and there have always been teams that lagged behind. TV ratings are up, there are no teams worth less than a billion, and there is a line of cities interested in getting an expansion team. If there is any downside, the sport is no longer in contention for most popular, that goes to the NFL, and number two is college football, so it's either third or fourth in popularity fighting with the NBA for that spot. So this is really a discussion about personal feelings.

The game is so different from the game of my youth, I could spend the next hour typing a list of all the things I dislike about the modern game. If I had to put my finger on the one thing that ended my following the game it would be the wild card play-in game which I think started in 2014. That finished me as a baseball fan, I might watch an inning or two of the World Series or a playoff game if its broadcast over the air but I have no interest in who wins.
