A lot of Charmed fans blame Alyssa (https://www.reddit.com/r/charmed/comments/tuiz9n/i_really_think_alyssa_milano_ruined_the_show_with/) and her need to be a sex symbol (https://www.reddit.com/r/charmed/comments/p8ac9a/the_more_i_rewatch_the_show_the_more_i_dislike/) is one of the reasons why Charmed ended up (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/would-charmed-had-been-as-popular-it-was-if-shannen-stayed-and-alyssa-left.5396012/post-95914426) the way it did (https://www.reddit.com/r/charmed/comments/13jyhg9/all_the_hate_on_phoebealyssa/) after Shannen (https://thecharmedcafe.proboards.com/thread/12343/biggest-mistakes-on-charmed?page=3) was either fired (https://thecharmedcafe.proboards.com/thread/11262/10-charmed-pilot-never-noticed) or left the show (https://www.reddit.com/r/charmed/comments/pyzg6k/shannen_doherty_leaving_charmed_series/) on her own terms.

On the same token however, it's arguable that Charmed at the time was very popular because of Phoebe and Cole (https://www.reddit.com/r/charmed/comments/jumq0b/phoebe_and_cole_whats_your_opinion/). And at the time, Alyssa was clearly the fan favorite (https://thecharmedcafe.proboards.com/thread/10116/alyssa-milano-thread) with the general public whereas people still hated Shannen (https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/1474gl4/why_does_everyone_hate_shannen_doherty/) for what happened on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210.
