View Full Version : Question for General Tape Traders
AdiTheGame 09-07-2002, 09:38 PM I'm not trying to make fun of anything, but do you people sit at home all day and tape and tape and tape and tape? I read the want/have lists and they are huge. I have a few, and those are only my fav shows (Friends, Cheers, Seinfeld, Frasier, GI) Do you people enjoy doing this? It just feels a little dark for me. Sorry if I offended you, just my opinion.
TV Favorites 09-08-2002, 01:32 AM I don't sit around all day and record, but I do set the timer for the VCR so it will record by itself. I have more important things to do with my life than push a record button all day.

Same here. And most of us just keep what we really enjoy, and I know that I try and get the shows I enjoy because you never know when you'll see them again. Right now, I'm only recording a few classic tv shows during the day when I'm not home.
Gomer Pyle, USMC
The Wonder Years
St. Elsewhere
And then, I've been recording everything in the TV Land Kitschen, more regularly this time around. And then everything in Better Living Through Television.
So yeah, I'm a TV Junkie (that's why I have that screenname), but its for personal enjoyment, and because I love all those shows, and you just never know how long they'll be around.
What I Record Each Week In Reruns
Gomer Pyle, USMC
The Wonder Years
St. Elsewhere
The Munsters
Adventures of Superman
Fernwood 2Night
Soap (starting next week)
Welcome Back, Kotter
Perfect Strangers
Square Pegs
Burns & Allen
The Honeymooners
Hazel
Father Knows Best
So, again, yeah, I record a lot, but half the time I'm not even home or not even watching them, just doing other things, so my face is barely glued to the television during the week, or half the time, even on the weekends.
DetectiveGriffin 09-08-2002, 12:37 PM i know what you're talking about, some folks record obsessively; i think one of the big reasons is they're hoping to make a few dollars here and there. for others, i know it is sad but true, but some people really dont have anything better to do. i'd rather watch reruns than run around hitting bars like all my friends do, wasting all my money.
i record a couple things for myself, a couple programs for my buds, and some trade stuff for people in canada, so i do record a decent amount of stuff everyday - it all really adds up.
tv shows that i love and grew up with arent so popular, so id rather record chopped up syndicated repeats than worry they'll disappear for another 5 or 10 years.
i dont hold my breath for season by season releases of anything i like, because i know that studios are hyper geared toward preeteens. :(
TVJunkie101 09-08-2002, 01:00 PM Yep, that's my point Detective Griffin. I'm not going to sit around twiddling my thumbs hoping box sets of the shows I like to be released. Sure, it really does amount with all the stuff each person records, but like I said, you just never know when you'll see these shows again. I really dread the day TV Land adds Cosby Show, Cheers, Family Ties & Coach. I really do pray that it doesn't happen, but I have a bad feeling it will in a couple of years, but PLEASE let's pray that it doesn't (not that those shows aren't classics in their own, but TV Land is about the only place for real classic tv anymore, besides Hallmark, and I don't get GoodLife)
