Hey all!
Does anyone know what Laurel and Hardy film has the sketch Rob and his army buddy performed in "Sol Pomerantz Scandals" (Season 2)? I've been trying to find it for a while now but haven't had any luck. Anyone know? Thanks!;)

That sketch was written by Carl Reiner and did not come from a Laurel and Hardy movie. In his book, Vince Waldron talks about Dick Van Dyke's admiration of Stan Laurel and how Dick went to meet him to get pointers on doing that sketch. It was the thrill of his life.

 Now I fell a little embarrassed to have asked that question. But...I have to hand it to Carl! He wrote it so well I thought it was an original Laurel and Hardy sketch! I can understand how Dick felt meeting Stan Laurel...that's how I would feel if ever got to talk to Dick Van Dyke! Thanks for the info Lolac!

Don't be embarrassed!! If I hadn't read that, I may have thought the same thing! It is a testament to Carl Reiner's genius that he caught the flavor of Laurel and Hardy so well. I am currently reading "My Anecdotal Life," Carl Reiner's autobiography. He had some amazing experiences in his early career that shaped him and made him the creative genius that he is today.

You guys are right. I've always been a big fan of Laurel and Hardy, and that sketch is written so well it would have made a great script for the real team!
They both play their characters well too, except some of Dick's movements are a little too exaggerated. I enjoy the Laurel and Hardy sketch very much.

Please don't feel bad! Embarrass probably wasn't the best word for me to use in my last post! Now I REALLY want to read Vince Waldron's book!
I just finished reading "My Anecdotal Life" a week or two ago and I enjoyed it very much. Not only is it enjoyable but it's also very funny. Carl is a MASTER storyteller and writer!! :notworthy
