Roger Whittaker is now gone? What a surprise because he was such an entertainer and if memory serves correctly he used to have a variety show in the UK in the 60's. My first introduction to Roger was his delightful version of The Holly And The Ivy from his Christmas album in 1983 and I never knew he had an amazing voice. And you know who Roger Whittaker reminds me of and he probably modeled himself after? Kelsey Grammer because if you have heard Kelsey Grammer sing before Kelsey sounds like Roger in many ways. I also knew Roger Whittaker was born in Africa because he did a tribute record in the 70's to honor where he was born. I think just as America had Andy Williams Roger Whittaker was the UK answer to Andy Williams

MeTV Radio played The Last Farewell this afternoon in tribute to Roger.
In Chicago, WGN Radio played the French horn segment of The Last Farewell practically every day for years in the 1990s or so, as their station-ID music:

I can't imagine how many times I heard that. It's a great song, I finally got it on CD several years ago.

When I was listening to music this morning I discovered a whole bunch of Roger Whittaker albums and I found one called Roger Whittaker On Broadway "and no he didn't cover The Drifters hit of the same name" But it's a wonderful album where he sings Broadway show tunes and he does a great job on them. Another famous Christmas song Roger did was a wonderful tune called Darcy The Dragon and that song is such a joy to hear and I like it because I love dragons
