Every year it seems that when September begins the avalanche of Christmas and holiday commercials start debuting on TV and I can't figure out why this trend began so early? Is it to get people in the holiday spirit early or is it a jumpstart to begin thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas? Because I have seen commercials for Glade holiday scented sprays and commercials advertising Jennie-O and Butterball turkeys. It used to be that Thanksgiving commercials debuted after Halloween was over in October and Christmas commercials were seen during Thanksgiving. But now instead of Halloween themed commercials which there are few this year you see Thanksgiving and Christmas commercials in October and September and by the time Thanksgiving and Christmas arrive people will get tired of it and the commercials should debut in November around Thanksgiving week to get people ready if I ran the commercials

You're obviously not a Costco member. Christmas arrives in August at Costco, by the time September rolls around, artificial Christmas trees, crib displays, Disney Christmas products are all over the selling floor. Christmas now starts the day after Halloween, first the inside of the house gets set up, then the exterior, by the time Thanksgiving arrives the people celebrating the Christmas holidays are good to go. Christmas has also morphed into a holiday I call winterfest, with the decorations staying up well into January. I saw someone last year not take down their outdoor decorations until February!

My neighbor puts her Christmas Wreath up the day after Halloween and doesn't take it down until February 13th.

Cracker Barrel had Halloween out in late June. Christmas out in late July. Heck, they had 4th of July (Summer), Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas merchandise out all at the same time.
