ABC has opted not to renew new midseason drama "Deception" for a second season.
Written by "Chuck" alum Chris Fedak, "Deception" premiered March 11 and easily won its Sunday 10 PM slot thanks to a lead-in from the debut of "American Idol" on ABC.
"Deception‘s" bow drew a 1.3 in 18-49 and 6.1 million total viewers — the network’s best scripted premiere numbers in the hour since "Quantico" in September 2015.
It was a respectable start for a drama in the current ratings environment, though not a breakout. By April 23, though, the series had dropped to its lowest demo rating: a 0.6, with 3.38 million viewers. The series has since recovered a bit, drawing a 0.7-0.8 for its subsequent airings, but that wasn’t enough.
In most current ratings, "Deception’s" Season 1 average is 1.2.

ABC has canceled "Kevin (Probably) Saves the World", its freshman dramedy starring Jason Ritter.
The series got off to a slow start in the network’s challenging Tuesday 10 PM slot, which has claimed a slew of short-lived drama series.
Formerly known as "The Gospel of Kevin", the show from creators Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters was in a similar hopeful, light, one-hour style as ABC’s breakout hit "The Good Doctor" but had a rough time building an audience.
It opened with a soft 4.2 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49 (Live+Same Day), and its ratings slipped in most of the subsequent weeks. The network ordered three additional episodes in November.

"Marvel’s Inhumans" will not see a second season. ABC has canceled the action drama series.
The decision is not a surprise. The show premiered to modest ratings on ABC following its two-episode debut in Imax theaters two weeks before its linear premiere, and it never picked up steam. Box office receipts of $3.5 million disappointed all involved, and the show drew negative reviews from critics.

ABC is not moving forward with a second season of drama series "The Crossing".
"The Crossing" premiered April 2 with "American Idol" as a lead-in, but that episode of the revived singing-competition series happened to match a series-low demo rating for a regular telecast. Post-Idol, the midseason drama managed to eke out a win in the 10 PM hour with a 1.0 and 5.45 million viewers.
It outperformed same night last year for ABC by double digits but fell short of previous week’s "The Good Doctor" wrapper and its season average, though that still left it ABC’s second-most-watched Monday 10 PM debut, behind "Doctor", in nearly three years.
