View Full Version : New types of Dine and Dash!
Janice Johnson 09-16-2023, 11:57 AM They have new dine and dash types. Type 1, Customer orders a lot of food and drinks to their house using a credit card. After enjoying the food and drinks, they falsely claim to their Bank they never got the food and drinks and do a chargeback. Restaurant is out the money. An EXTREME version of this happened in like early 2021 where a LOT of people were still in lockdown. A Customer ordered about $700 worth of food and drinks. Restaurant delivered it to the house, Customer received food and drinks and then like a couple of hours later, Customer falsely claimed to their Bank that they never received the food and drinks and got the $700 credited to their credit card! My God!
The Restaurant Owner was on the news talking about how this lie the Customer did seriously damaged her finances and she had to close her Restaurant over the $700 theft. Loyal Customers felt bad for her and did a GoFundMe to help her out, but were furious that she used the GoFundMe to pay her personal needs and not for the RESTAURANT.
The second type of new Dine and Dash is VERY similar to the first one, except Customer does NOT lie to the Bank, they lie to Door Dash(No pun intended with the Dash part. ;)) So, Customer orders food and drinks through Door Dash.
Dasher(Delivery Driver for Door Dash ;) ) hands them their food and drinks. Customer eats and drinks. Customer then lies to Door Dash and says they never received their food and drinks and they want a refund to their Bank card. A couple of times, the Dasher gets out their phone and goes to the Customers house or job and confronts and records the lying Customer and gets them to admit they received the food and drinks and then lied about never receiving the food and drinks all on camera.
ThisLittlePiggy 09-16-2023, 02:03 PM That sounds like fraud and couldn't people go to jail for doing that stuff?

Yes, especially for the $700 charge. I REALLY hate to say this, but the Restaurant Owner kind of committed Fraud too. Using GoFundMe money on her personal needs like car note, cellphone bills, food, utilities, gas, etc, instead of for the RESTAURANT. I would have been pissed myself if I gave her GoFundMe money for her Restaurant and she used it on her personal needs instead. It sucks that the Customer stole $700 from her, but her using the GoFundMe money on her personal needs is crossing a line herself!
ThisLittlePiggy 09-16-2023, 03:28 PM Regarding the restaurant delivering the food, did they take a picture of it being left there?

They just confronted the lying Customers on camera and got them to confess they did receive the food and drinks! But in all honesty, Instacart sends me pictures of delivering the groceries, but I haven't seen Door Dash send me pictures of the food. A Dasher or an Instacart Delivery Driver did tell me he takes pictures of the orders when he delivers them to circumvent liars. :)
ThisLittlePiggy 09-17-2023, 02:34 AM Oh, okay. That's a good idea for all deliverers to take pictures!

Hmm. I now recall a Woman saying a Dasher or an Instacart Delivery Driver took pictures of her order and then took it back with him before she could even get it! :mad:She caught him on her Ring Camera or something like that and reported the theft! It's one thing for a CUSTOMER to attempt theft from food and drinks delivery, but a whole nother story when the DELIVERY DRIVER steals the Customer's Order!:mad:

Here is a Reddit Thread about the same type of thing, Delivery Driver stealing the food after dropping off food and then taking pictures of it.
Yong Fang 09-17-2023, 08:19 AM Door Dash and Grub Hub are asinine. There are places that sell food for delivery service and are set up for that. Mainly pizza, Chinese food and things like that. Now we have delivery drivers that go to regular restaurants and deliver food from these places that are just not set up for that.
To me, this is ridiculously expensive. Don’t people know how to cook? Don’t they just go and buy regular food? I can see being tired or not feel like cooking, but order from restaurants who traditionally do delivery, not some restaurant who doesn’t because it isn’t fair to the diners to have to wait for your lazy self. And it is absolute laziness.

I clicked on your post to say that I order pizza with every paycheck, but then I saw that you mentioned pizza as being a traditional delivery thing. :) I guess when you say restaurants not set up for delivery, you are talking about stuff like fast food restaurants like McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's. ;) I remember when I was younger telling my Mom something like,"McDonald's and Burger King should do delivery." My Mom replied,"If people are doing delivery from Burger King and McDonald's, that's just plain lazy! " Cut to recent and current times, and Burger King and McDonald's are doing delivery!
Recently, Mom had thrown out a lot of food because we were expecting a new refrigerator. I was hungry and ordered McDonald's delivery. My McDonald's gift card didn't work(McDonald's only accepts debit and credit cards, no gift cards for delivery, ;) )so I texted my Mom to Zelle my money for pizza. Literally like 3 minutes later, I saw that there was food on the table and ate it. Mom called me to say something like there was food on the table . I told her I had found it and ate it! Expecting a new refrigerator and not knowing there was food in the house yet is a perfect reason to order McDonald's Delivery!

That is bad. I once had a delivery driver say he delivered my food but he went to the apartment building next door. I called him and told him to come back and bring me my items. He got mad at me because he was driving and he said, Do you want me to wreck my car, Lady? I was livid. GET ME MY GROCERIES NOW. LOL

The audacious audacity of him to get mad at you for something that was his fault!:rolleyes:

Here is new type of Dine and Dash 1. Customer ordered more than $700 through Delivery and then falsely claimed to his bank that he never received the food and got the charge reversed to his credit card. So, he got a free dinner worth more than $700 at the expense of the Restaurant Owner!

Here is type two of new Dine and Dash. Customer lying to Door Dash after receiving food and drinks, claiming they never got the food and drinks and asking Door Dash for a refund. Gets confronted by Dasher and admits they got the food and then lied to Door Dash about never receiving the food and drinks on camera!
