The kids must have called charles mom by her last name....right???

Actually, the children and Buddy called her "Aunt Lillian," while everyone else referred to her as plain old "Lillian." Charles of course called her "Mom." http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I never understood why Charles and Lillian were the only characters on the show who didn't have last names. I wish Todd could schedule an on-line chat with Al Burton, Michael Jacobs, and the entire Charles in Charge cast so we can finally have all of our inquiries answered! (And so I can finally talk to Nicole! LOL)

Indeed.. so many unanswered questions and all those similarities to Happy Days!

One of the things I thought was funny was in the episode where Lillian first showed up. Sarah greeted her by saying, "Oh, hi Mrs.--" and Charles' mother cut her off saying, "Just call me Lillian."

Personally, I always figured Charles' last name should have been Arcola. Chachi is short for Charles, and he had the same mother...

I cam remember seeing in the very last scene in the last episode when Charles is waking from his dream, Lillian said, "Didn't you ever wonder why you have no last name?" But I have to agree that if he did have one, It would probably be Arcola.

There was one episode, Charles was a substitute teacher for Nicole Eggert's class, he got very upset that she called him Charles, instead of his last name as he instructed the class to do, he even wrote it on the blackboard in the classroom...if anyone remebers his last name please e-mail ag03902@aol.com, this question has been debated in my family trivia games for years.
