View Full Version : it's time...
InspectorExstead 09-07-2002, 03:00 PM ugh...school sucks. i got so much homework on the first day and everything. it's sooo annoying. i'm not gonna be on here as much till like october. cuz i've got soccer, hospital and like 3 hours of ap hw every night and then another 3 hrs. for all my other classes. it's so friggin annoying. so, i'll just be on friday and weekends, the whole time. lol. :(
DarleneIllyria 09-07-2002, 03:43 PM That is so dumb! Usually my first days we didn't have any homework. The only homework we had on the first few days was pick up any materials that we didn't already have. Do you have all of your books yet? That's what they would do at my school. They would give out all the books within the first week and it would take forever for them to sell lockers.
Another question: Does everybody have to buy their lockers? If you have to buy them, how much were they? Mine were 5 bucks each year during hs.

I never heard of that. In none of my high schools did you have to buy a locker........
I hear ya Megan, I have 3 Ap classes and so far, I had the most homework on the first day. I'm lucky that I got a bit of a break over the weekend.
InspectorExstead 09-07-2002, 03:50 PM woa, you had to pay for your lockers! that's like bs! we get em for free. we get our hall lockers during orientation. (it's the same one we had from ninth, except for a different combo). and then we usually get our pe lockers the second week.
yeah, i got ike all my books the first day except for english and spanish. i got my spanish the second day and my english teacher doesn't like the book, so we're not gonna use it. thank god, my locker's so crowded.

Wow. Here we don't have a lot of lockers, so we have locker partners. I have so many books and stuff, but I didn't get them all until the first day of each class. I guess it's kinda crowded, but I only use 1 book on A day and 3 of them for B day.
vienna waits 09-07-2002, 04:04 PM We don't buy our lockers... your school must want money! lol. Ours are free but I never use mine because I have no time to go to it. I just carry the things I need for each day in my backpack and hands.. on red days my back is about to break. Red days I carry my Algebra, Biology, and Spanish book plus two binders.. and folders and notebooks. And then white days I don't have any books because Yearbook and 20th cent. lit don't have textbooks and we haven't gotten our english books yet. Oh ya and our lockers are the same all four years of HS w/ the same combination.

Wow, that's weird. We don't have to pay for our lockers... although 5 bucks isn't too bad. But then again it wouldn't be worth it for me because I never use my locker.
And I'm sorry Megan. :( We'll miss ya on here when you're not around. Drop by as much as possible k? You're my hugging buddy, after all.. ;)
DarleneIllyria 09-07-2002, 06:44 PM When I was in middle school, I didn't have to pay for my lockers. Then when I hit high school, I got stuck with a school that wanted to empty out cash in each and every way that they could.
In 9th-11th grade, they came in quite handy so I was glad that I bought one each year. We couldn't use the one we had in 9th grade. They made us buy a new one each year. My senior year, I barely used my locker. I bought it in case I needed it- and it turns out that I hardly used it. I had my Senior Lit book for first semester and my Business Law book for second semester.
Here is another warning too. This is for the Seniors in high school. The people at Balfour (company that sells senior keychains, shirts, necklaces, etc) if they come to your school and you want just about everything they sell- its going to be expensive. It's worth it for mementos, but its going to be expensive. I think I spent over about $400 for the entire senior year. Senior pics cost money (even had to pay a sitting fee when they took the pics), the cap and gown costs about 20 bucks, and the rest of the Senior stuff I bought from Balfour was the rest of the chunk.
I'm not sure if Balfour comes to every highschool, they probably do. I just wanted to warn the seniors that knows Balfour does come to their school.

man, ur school sounds...awful. i know senior year is gonna cost like a lotta money. i'm gonna have to start working to pay for it. prom dress, shoes, yearbook, pics, homecoming, prom tickets, prom limo or whatever ride i take, class ring, senior breakfast, senior picnic, senior ditch day, cap and gown (my parents are gonna have to pay for that). geez, who the hell are we, bill gates?
vienna waits 09-07-2002, 08:34 PM At my middle school you arent allowed to carry a bookbag around because they think people are gonna carry a gun so I had to use my locker then.. I'd be Pissed off tho if they come up with this rule at the high school.

That rule kind of sounds like a rule they had at the high school. We could carry our bookbags in the library, but we had to leave them at the door. The people that ran my school had no imagination. Believe me, a gun is small. I could tape it to the inside of my pants leg and sneak a gun in. My school had some pretty dumb rules.
To prevent smoking in the bathrooms, they would lock the doors to the bathrooms on the 200 and 400 hall and only unlock those bathrooms between classes (which they rarely did at times), so a person would have to walk all the way to the 500 hall bathroom. That still didn't prevent smoking. I would go in the 500 hall bathroom during lunch and stand there for about 10 minutes, because all the stalls were full with smokers. By the time I did get a stall, I would leave the bathroom smelling of smoke even though I don't smoke.
If you asked to go to the bathroom during class if you had one of those bad teachers, they would give you detention for about 10 or 15 minutes in order to leave the classroom. I could understand enforcing that rule if you had people that wanted to leave the room every 5 minutes every day.

That's bad. And I thought my school was bad. in my school here, we have no metal detectors, we have an open campus, like am illion doors that are all open, we can carry backpacks everywhere (it's not hip to not have a backpack is what I usually say cause EVERYONE does LOL) and basically like no dress code, except liek muscle shirts, midriffs, no bellybuttons showing, stuff like that. The only food allowed is candy, gum, and water bottles. *(Which reminds me, I have the funniest story that my teacher ever told me)
Now at my old school, we had to wear uniforms, only white or blue shirts, have to have a belt, dress pants (no jeans), church shoes, no backpacks allowed at all in class, library was ok, closed campus, only opne exit and entrance (But they lock it). Horrible memmories. No candy, gum, water bottles, etc.
*Ok, so my teacher told us water bottles are allowed, but only with water. This one girl had orange juice and the teacher told us that he knew this kid in high school who would always eat oranges everyday in school, like twice a day, but he always seemed so tired and slow at the end of the day, and no one could figure out why. Well he went on for that like months, and kept on eating his oranges. Until this one day, my teacher, his frined, found out that his mother has been tampering with the oranges. She's a nurse. Well she has been inserting alcohol into the oranges using a syringe! OMG, I swear I was rolling when I heard that. That was the funniest thing I have ever heard. Haha!
Anyway, I'll keep a look out on that company Jenny. I know that Senior year cost soo much money, but i don't know if it's worth it getting a class ring. Do you have one? I mean you pay like $200 for one (The cheapest here) and wear it just one year? So I'm just wondeirng if you bought one an if yous till wear it, and if it's worth getiing one.

ROFLMAO! That is a hilarious story. lol
I bought a Senior ring my Junior year. Hey, it was one thing out of the way. I think mine was more than $200. I had all the bonus stuff added to my ring. Mine has my first and last name inscribed on the inside of the ring, and Jennifer on the side of the ring.
It's def. worth buying. I still wear mine. I think they have some kind of guarantee on the ring, so if it gets to small then you can have in enlarged for free. Let me check on that though. Yep, it has an Exclusive Lifetime Warranty. My ring is through Balfour btw.

Maybe I'll consider getting one. I think they still sell to seniors, but I'm not sure. I'll have to think about it but thanks for the info!
Sean Snow 09-07-2002, 11:43 PM We have to pay for our hall lockers $5, and for our PE lockers $5, so we end up paying $10 for lockers altogether. I hate some things about our school. We have to have mesh or clear bookbags, we have to always have our shirts tucked in so they can make sure we don't have a gun (this doesnt' bother me, but it's still a stupid rule, imo), and we have to carry ID badges with us. Last year we had to have them around our neck, this year we only have to carry them on us.

I couldn't send this reply last night, but here goes. Have you considered selling the ring? Then maybe when the ring company comes back, you can buy a new one.
Don't worry Chris. The ring company usually comes to the school at the beginning of the year, so they can ship them out either during the middle or end of the school year.
